I didn't add that category because I don't know how well it would go over. Plus you didn't vote for anyone unless you're volunteering. :p If others would like me to add it to the list, let me know.

New Category:

DISer who hates these types of threads/contests more than anyone else on the DIS -- Saffron.

Smileybrat, please add that to your list and please don't take it personally. I know you have warm, loving, fun intentions. I always enjoy your posts, I've just always hated these kind of threads. That's how I got one of my tags -- usually I cyber streak threads like this, but I've gotten so fat over the last year, I couldn't run if my life depended on it. I just know that there are hilarious, loving, caring people who won't be mentioned because they don't don't get a lot of attention, and for them, I'd like to see that category.

Oh -- you can add another category: Most likely to rain on or streak popularity contests, but usually, not always, but usually, kind otherwise: Saffron.

I'm with you Saffron. So you have two votes for people who hates these kinds of popularity contests. :Pinkbounc ::yes::

I think of this more as an 'appreciation' thread than an actual contest. I liked getting to name the people who have made me laugh/helped me out/encouraged me in the four months I've been on the DIS. I think some of the DISers have no idea how many people they have touched.

I'd like to take another opportunity to say:
Pop Daddy....you crack me up!

I agree with ibouncetoo. It's just a fun little thing. It's not like this is high school and we're voting for Miss Popular. :snooty: I really don't think anybody is going to key your car if you don't vote for them...... But then again, I can't vouch for Pop Daddy! :hyper:

I can understand wanting to show someone that they’re appreciated, but I can’t understand showing someone that they are the “most” of anything. Like I stated before, I believe smileybrat’s intentions were pure and good, I’m sure this type of thing is a lot of fun for a lot of people, but for many it’s not fun or funny. It is exactly like high school where everyone voted for “the best ... ”, “the most ... ” etc. I’m not saying
that anyone should do anything differently, honestly! Please disregard me and carry on! I just wanted to express my opinion that I hated this sort of post in the past (ask Dan, he can vouch for me - that I always try to include everyone in these things), I hate it now and will hate the same sort of threads 3 months from now, 6 months from now and a year from now, ... there will be more of these types of threads, it’s inevitable. So -- I’ll keep voicing my opinion that more than a handful of DISers are funny, thoughtful, helpful, a pain in the neck (include me in that category if you’d like :p ) etc. etc. Sorry to rain on anyone’s parade (you all can put me in that category too :p), but you can ask the Zurgs how well this sort of thing goes over -- their thread was a joke and they still got a lot of grief over it (I didn't give them grief, I just streaked them, I had a better body then :teeth:). There will always be some Grinch like myself standing up for all the people whose names don’t appear on the list.

And I can vouch for Jason - he won't touch MY car! Right Jason?!

Blondie! Bwwwwwhahahahaha! The irony! Did we just do what we hate seeing done? :bounce: :teeth: ::yes::

Have a good night folks!

Please understand my post was in jest, but I don't understand something......

First tho let me clarify I am NOT directing this to you personally. I am using "you" in a general sense.
That being said, what I don't understand is why if "you" do not like these kind of posts why not just skip over them? Why even participate in the thread at all? I notice this in quite a few posts and I've never understood it. When I see post I may not like or agree with instead of possibly stirring things up and possibly hurting peoples feelings or good intentions I just not post and move on. Why must people post that they don't like something and don't want anything to do with it? What good does that really do but possibly hurt people? Yes, we all have opinions on things but there are times and places for those. Not all threads require a debate of sorts. Anywho...just wondering....

OK...I'm done interuppting this thread. Please return to the voting ;)
