Disers of 2003 (*Final results *)

Like I said before, I like to give a voice to all those that aren't named in these kind of threads. My intentions aren't to hurt anyone -- if you knew me, you'd know that. My intentions are that everyone be included in these types of threads. I've tried that in the past -- I typed out hundreds of names and tried to say something about each person, but after hours of exhaustive work, I still managed to leave people out and hurt feelings.

I don't stir the pot. I usually hit the back button on threads that I don't like. Standing up about this type of thread is at the core of my being -- I like to see everyone feel included -- I don't like to see anyone left out or feel hurt or excluded, as has happened often in the past. Passing by this thread is not something I want to do without giving voice to some who have not been included.

I'm sorry if I hurt anyone's feelings. It was not my intention, that's not who I am. I want everyone to feel included, that's all,. Everyone who posts on the DIS makes the DIS what it is, everyone deserves mention. And -- that's just my opinion, and I'm sure there are lots of people angry at me for voicing it on this thread. :smooth: but that's something I'm willing to risk to give a voice to some who aren't heard. But then again, maybe I'm the ONLY one who feels this way.

Of course you aren't the only one. That's why you are voicing it instead of backing away. People have gotten hurt in the past by these kinds of threads. Yes, they are fun, for those that are included. But not for those who aren't.

stepping off soap box now.

Good Lord! I was enjoying reading all the posts on this thread & thinking of all the people who have affected me since I joined the DIS in August, then all heck broke loose!!!

Back to the voting....

1. Delswife
3. Dan Murphy
5. Pop Daddy-hee hee
12. Ohanafamily

Let's add a new category.....PARTY POOPER--Saffron ;)

I'm going to think about others, be back soon......

Maggie, Blondie and I agree on this point. My problem is I have seen this time and time again, peoples feelings get hurt if they are not mentioned. They honestly do guys, so I shy away from these things. Back when I was a Mod on this board I saw how it hurt folks often. I know this is in good fun to make people feel good...but just like High School, popularity contests hurt if you were not mentioned.

If that's so, then people really need to chill out, relax and tackle the real problems of the world. Jeeesh!

I'm as chilled and relaxed as I've ever been! How you this evening Dawn? :wave2:

if I get votes its good, if I dont this is stupid

*sigh*

I tried. I tried to make light of things, tried to point out what Dan said. I tried. Only one thing left to do. You might want to avert your eyes, this won't be pretty.

I'm with you Saffron. So you have two votes for people who hates these kinds of popularity contests. :Pinkbounc ::yes::

Three votes now. Even tho I did "vote" a couple of pages ago......I do have to agree with the few DISers who are just trying to keep others from getting their feelings hurt.

There are SO many good people here..... funny, thoughtful, helpful, even annoying and personally I like 'em all!!:D

Gee, I hope my vote for "Official DIS Mascot" didn't hurt any little creatures feelings!! I know that is not what Thumper would want!!

Maybe changing the word "favorite" or "best" to "Most Likely To" would help avert hurt feelings?? We could have categories like:

Most likely to make you smile
Most likely to lend a hand
Most likely to fix a tech problem
Most likely to cause the fur to fly (Hey!! :bounce: Can I nominate Thumper for this catergory as well!! :p )

Please keep voting. This is just a tally of results so far. I am recording ties as a vote for each. Thanks for keeping this thread bumped up.

I am not trying to offend anyone with this thread. I just thought it would be nice to show our appreciation to all those Disers who have touched our lives. I'm sorry if you take it as a popularity vote. It is not meant in that way. You can speak your mind and even say you hate this kind of thread. I don't care! I even added a category for you. I was never vote most ........ anything in school. I wasn't offended. But I don't want anyone to feel left out. Anyone who knows me knows that. That is why there is an "everyone/too many to mention" choice for many of the categories. Also, you can pick new categories to add. I want everyone to feel included even if all they do is vote. I meant for this thread to be fun, not to hurt anyone's feelings. You can always leave and never come back if you feel so strongly against this thread. I wasn't trying to start a debate.

*I'm sorry if your name doesn't appear on the list. Some people are naturally shy, not as outspoken, or may be new to the boards and aren't known as well, so they don't receive a vote. I want to let everyone know they are cared for even if I/we don't say it. The world is a better place because you are in it. Don't EVER think otherwise. You never realize how many lives you touch for just being the person you are.

"Can anyone else think of good categories to vote on?"

How about Best Thread Starter? or Best Trip Report? (guess we all know who would win that one!) And how about Most Likely to Debate (anything and everything)

Can someone answer one question for me?
<MARQUEE><FONT SIZE=5 Why doesn't Dan Murphy have a tag?!?

</font></MARQUEE>

Answer: Dan chooses to tag himself. ~ The Tag Fairy

Just one more thought, I think this is a fine way to recognize those who stand out among the crowd. Why should anyone have a problem with that? Unless you're just a sore loser, what's wrong with giving credit where credit is due? There are some people can't take a compliment and then there are those who can't give one either.;)
