Conversation has dwindled a bit, so here's a bit for discussion. I entered an essay contest open to parents of small children last summer with hasbro. I placed 3rd and got a $100 gift certificate. Had to be 250 words or less.

Here's what they were looking for:
The essay must be 250 words or less. (Mine is exactly 250) The essay submission must contain the following elements: a description of how a family vacation to the (FLORIDA) ® Resort would likely spark a child’s imaginative play (35%); a description of how the child will likely benefit from this experience (35%); and display a knowledge of the components of (SPONSOR'S) Magical Beginnings program (30%)

Here was my entry...
"As we enter the land of magic and dreams one hour earlier than most guests, we are greeted with all the enchantment that is D.....(INSERT SPONSOR HERE :-). My daughter plays with none other than the cunning Peter Pan and charming Wendy. She soars through the air atop a flying elephant with the mischievous Stitch, and rides with Cinderella upon a magical horse to a child’s fantasyland.
We share a delectable breakfast including Mickey shaped waffles in a place that takes us to the golden age of Hollywood, while she learns to tame a lion with the help of the world’s best circus clown. Through the eyes of a lovely princess we learn to see something beautiful in everyone, even the most hideous beast.
My little one and I will learn to “Catch that train,” “Get on the bus,” or choose the “right tool” as we sing, dance and maybe even get the Wiggles out at a great live Disney event geared just for her.
And what child wouldn’t dream of trick or treating dressed as Minnie? She and I will actually do this WITH Minnie Mouse.
As we end our marvelous day in the land of fairy-tales we dream in the awe-inspiring royal bedchamber that was designed for Cinderella to overlook her fantasy kingdom. From her window she sees Walt’s goodnight kiss celebrating her coronation as a true princess.
When we leave she’s not sad, she knows she’ll carry the magic with her forever. It’s an enchanting journey to begin a lifetime!"

Wow! My family traveled to [that magical Florida-based Park ;) ] last Fall during Little Ones Travel Time. We definitely took advantage of Little Ones Extra Magic Hours and even caught a Choo-Choo Soul concert at Hollywood Studios (then MGM Studios). My DD (and DS) got to play Duck-Duck-Goose with Mickey & Pluto, "S-P-O-O-N-F-U-L O-F S-U-G-A-R" with Mary Poppins, Bert, Tigger & Pooh, and we watched other kids enjoy carousel rides with Goofy and Dumbo rides with Stitch.

Your essay entry makes me want to return to [that Park] ASAP. What was the Grand Prize?

Oh, I forgot to add that Alice and The Madhatter participated in that "S-P-O-O-N-F-U-L O-F S-U-G-A-R" game, too! Yep, we really hit the jackpot with character interaction that day. :thumbsup2

Thanks for joining the SPONSORcot! We should start a send the pirate to the park petition! We did that too in 06 and it was awesome. The kids were more interested in playing with pan, wendy and hook than riding rides. My son did ride Dumbo with Stitch, which was cool and he loves Stitch. We got to see the Doodlebops and Mickey's Magic Show. Great fun.

Now a word from our SPONSORS...Help, the pirate has me tied up and is sing Yo Ho! incessantly!

What happens if the SPONSORS have a "no tolerance/no negotiation" policy?

:scared1:

Then it's off to the POTC jail cell for Kenny the Pirate! (Either way, he's still in the Park, which is better than nothing. ... Right?! )

Speaking of which, does anyone know anything about the actual holding cell within Disney World ('sorry, Kenny!)? My impression was that it's located in the Magic Kingdom. ... Or is that just an urban legend? :confused3

My DH and I watched Mel Gibson's Apocalyto (sp) tonight and if you saw this very intense, violent movie you'll understand when I say I need to get back to my "happy place".

So I just wanted to stop in, read some more cheery news and say goodnight.

:rotfl: You're great Disgeeks! I don't know about the legend, but I know Kenny would make the most of that experience! But what would the world do without it's favorite pirate?!

Hey Marshay, it was Rambo 3 here tonight, so I completely understand! :goodvibes

Hey, now that all the Interviews are done, can any of you Top 20 folks share anything about your interviews last week? If not your answers, then at least some of the questions?

I know we tried to predict some of the questions and just wondering what some of them actually were.

Thanks!

I don't really remember many of the questions from my interview. It really did seem like a conversation. I know I studied up for the standard "What are your weaknesses?" etc.. interview questions... but I didn't get a single question I anticipated.

Even the expected "Why should you be the CMO?" question was there.. but kind of hidden in a clever package that tested your ability to make your point quickly and concisely.

Those are the worst questions at job interview..name your weakness,, name one time when you faced an obstacle and how did you over come it, et al

Those always make me so darn nervous and tongue tied:eek:

Yep... but I have to give props to my interviewers... I've never had a better interview. Every question had a point to it... and was designed to really learn something about the interviewee. Turns out Disney is good at everything!

Well, with so many people "chomping at the bit" to work there (for free, even!), it's no wonder that Disney has enough talented CMs to do each task well! I guess Disney can afford to be selective...

[Okay, here's where I get flamed...] That's why I always find it so interesting when contestants complain loudly that Disney has picked "professionals" as semifinalists. (Heck! If a professional was willing to give you oodles of hours of free labor, wouldn't you accept the offer, too?) That said, I'm not trying to make light of the situation. I "get" that most of us on the DISboards are passionate about Disney and probably even dream of working there. That's why these contests are such emotionally charged events... We all wish to have our dreams come true!

Wow! 'Didn't mean to get so long-winded there... :flower3:

Hey, Kenny, along with your campaign for a free trip, would you mind petitioning "OUR SPONSORS" for another thing? More contests for "the little people"! ;)
