Yes, thanks LuvsTink for starting and maintaining this thread!

Hey, there are 19 of us so far who submitted videos and 20 spots available -- let's just say we all make it!!!

I was wondering how others interpret the rules that say

"Content of Online Entry video clip is limited to an audio commentary by entrant describing why he/she would be the perfect candidate for the position of CMO."

Does that mean that everyone who submitted a video with someone else talking will be disqualified? What does that mean to everyone?

I will link my video here when I figure out how. (not enough coffee yet this morning):surfweb:

I can't wait to find out who wins!

My DH and I discussed that b/c we were going to include him in the video but thought we better not just to play it safe. My assumption was that they wanted to hear the "CMO" talk, not someone else...

We also saw this:

"The presence of children in the video clip is allowed, but only if entrant is the parent or legal guardian of such children."

So any who included their grandkids, neighbor's kids, classmates or random kids at WDW in the background would also technically be disqualified??

FIVE more days!!!!

I hope the photos with strangers in the background that I included in my video does not disqualify me! I knew about the "no kids" rule but did not even think about the photos.

This waiting is sooooo hard.

all this discussion of rules also begs the question:
is singing = music?

Anne

I've been wondering about all these things, too - especilly the singing being music. So many people sang in their video.

Am I the only one who can't stop thinking about this contest? Come on, Thursday!

I took this as that the entire video can't be of other people talking about the person for CMO through the whole thing, they actually want to see you and see how comfortable you are in front of the camera. So I don't think anyone would be disqualified for having someone else in their video for a small bit..... because why would they have the rule then about kids? Or at least I hope that my interpretation was correct, the first 10/15 seconds of my video is other people saying what they think of when they hear my name and they all reply "Disney"......

I also think Disney wouldn't post the videos if they didn't meet the rules, right? We can hope that if a video was on their site, then it is actually being considered?

As for singing, I assume that was ok to do...I believe their point was no "music" because of the whole copyright thing and they can't advertise the video if they don't own the copyright but someone singing, esp a made up song, should be OK.

Oh, well -- we'll find out soon enough what the children/commentary by entrant/music thing really meant when we start to hear who got the calls.

Meantime, it's nice to dream!

Actually, according to the rules some videos will be disqualified. I saw one video that ended with a classroom full of kids supporting the person. The rules clearly stated that the only kids in your video could be your own.

Yeah, I saw that one, too and wondered about it. Guess that proves me wrong...

Well the problem with allowing for several kids to be in one person's video is the liability issue. Let's say Disney wants to use the winner's video for advertising. However, there's a classroom full of kids shown in it. Disney then has to go to the parents of every single child shown in the video and get the written consent to show the child in the planned form of advertisement (my guess would be a commercial), which is a pain in and of itself. Now throw in the fact that some people are greedy and would either sue the winner for exploiting their child so that the winner could win or demand that Disney pay their child for the use of the child's image and/or voice. Take that and times it by even just 5 children and you have one major legal headache.

I'm not sure if it proves you wrong, but I wonder if they will follow the rules they set. We will see! :wizard:

I hope they do or else why write the rule? Oh well, like you said, we'll see.

Very good point! :goodvibes

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one obsessing about this!!! :rotfl2:

Well, here is my take on the "rules." Only the rule about not using music states the video will be "immediately disqualified." So, my guess is, they hear the music (not singing) and don't bother any further with the video. It is my hope that the other rules still apply for choosing the top 20, but doesn't immediately disqualify the entry, so they still made it onto the site. I for one will be extremely upset if someone with children other than there own gets through, because I own a child care center and had a great video using the kids from the center, but thankfully I read every word of the rules before I submitted and ended up doing a new video.

I CANNOT WAIT FOR THURSDAY TO GET HERE!! I think we all will have the doors to our virtual mailboxes worn out!!! I just found out today that I may be losing my job, which I love dearly, as a Neonatal Intensive Care nurse after 8 years due to record low numbers of patients (good for the babies, bad for me & my co-workers) . My choice is to either just not work and not get paid until things get better, or look for a new job. Since I like to live in my house, and the mortgage company likes to get paid, it looks like I'm in the job market. I'm thinking this would be a great time for Disney to pick me. I could use a major pick me up!

Well, here's hoping somebody from this site gets picked. princess:
