DIS'ers escaping Mardi Gras

How many people from the Gulf Coast area are escaping Mardi Gras and heading to Disney?

We leave February 4th. We have 14 family members from Long Beach, MS and Mobile, AL heading down for 5 days.

We were there last Mardi Gras week and had a blast. We also did the Disney Wonder. We were debating about going in Feb. or Oct. for the MNSSHP. Well the MNSSHP won this time, plus we just got back from the MVMCP.

Simba Noodle, I posted a note to you on the other Mardi Gras thread yesterday! We'll be at AKL for the 4th-6th, and check into SSR the 6th-13th. It will be me, DH, DD8, DD5, DD1, SIL, my Mom & Dad. Can't wait to get out of here on the 4th. Are you all driving or flying?

Me + 3 at the Poly Feb 4 - 12th. I know quite a few friends who are heading over too.

Should be sweet! We were there for the past 2 Thanksgivings and had a great time, but looking forward to lesser crowds.

Oh, and we're flying Southwest roundtrip. Hope to see you all there!

Hey guys, we will be flying out of New Orleans on Southwest first thing Friday Feb 4th. We are staying at the VWL and WL until the 13th. We are doing our first "official" Grand Gathering. Even though myself and dds (8 and 4) have been about 6 times in the last few years, this will be my dh's first trip. We will be celebrating our 13th anniversary. I am wishing for major pixie dust for dh!! There will be a total of 32 of us in our group. Not everyone is staying the full time. I found out today that my doctor and his family will also be at WDW that week too! I'll definately be looking for lime green Mickey heads and ribbons!

We will be in the World from the 5th - 11th. We will be staying at Pop Century. I get to celebrate my birthday with Mickey. I can't wait.

I thought you guys would be in the know on this. When is Mardi Gras next year?

We are driving unfortunately. DH has never taken the drive. I have, so I'm not too excited about the drive. My Pal Mickey just arrived, he is so cute. DH says I ordered it for myself instead of the kids. I think he might be right. I went to Wal Mart today and found some really cute Mardi Gras
T-Shirts to wear while we are there. Now, I just have to find a really comfortable car seat for my DS2. Any suggestions?

We are leaving New Orleans on Sunday (2/6), checking in on Monday, staying through Friday @ AKL. I would expect quite a few people from the gulf coast, but I'm not sure that it's going to be that big of an impact.

My family will be there.Leaving Thursday the 3rd.Can't get my husband to fly,so it's a 8 hour drive with 3 girls(9,9,6).We live in Irvington,Alabama.We are staying at POR.

We went for Mardi Gras 2003 with DH's band (he's the percussion instructor)...it was our last trip! It was a fun time and we saw TONS of Louisiana people with beads and mardi gras shirts! DH made it to the hot seat for WWTBAM and when he said where he was from, I swear 1/2 the audience was also from Louisiana! DH's band is going back again this year for Mardi Gras and marching down Main Street...unfortunately we can't make it this year because I just started a new job. So if any of you are in MK and see the Archbishop Rummel High School marching band from Metairie...cheer really loud (especialy for the drumline! )I hope all of you have a wonderful time!!

We are a group of 11, GM, 3 sisters and 2 husbands, 3 nephews, 1 niece and my daughter. Magical Gathering Tony's Good Morning Gathering 2/8 and HDD 2/8. Bringing beads and wear ing Mardi Gras shirts. Exchanging one type of crowd for another!!

Hey simbanoodle! I'm in Mobile AL too and will be there on the 4th. We'll only be there for a few days. Kids have to go back to school on Wed. But we bought the 10 day no expiry myw tix so we'll be back later this year.

Hubby and I went on our Honeymoon 10 years ago during Mardi Gras, it's a great time to go! Wonderful weather, no crowds. It was my first time so I'm a little biased about this time of year though. I've been MANY times since, but Feb was always my favorite.

Maybe we'll see you there!

I understand the secret is out! My friend has gone to WDW the past 2 years over Mardi Gras. First year it was not crowded, but last year she said it was quite crowded. She has plenty to compare it to; she has also been Thanksgiving week and New Year's!

Hi,ELLIEMAE1192.Im from Irvington,ALA.Does your kids go to Mobile County Public School?Mine do and they have off Monday Feb.7 for Presidents day and Tues.and Wed.for Mardi Gras.Have never understood why they have off Wed.since Mardi Gras is over,but this year i like it cause we will be at Disney.
