We just got home from church and it was NASTY this morning! Sleet and freezing rain. The trees and power lines are covered in a coating of ice, but it's already falling off and melting. I want SNOW not nasty stuff!

The little guy is sleeping on my mom's bed right now (we came here to change before heading to the weekly dinner at my dad's parents') so I'm killing time online. Tonight is the Christmas play at my dad's family's church, so we'll go there to see my sisters in the play.

Angela - glad your bro made it home safely. How was the surprise?????

Shelby
Thanks for asking- :)
The surprise was GREAT- My nephew (3 years) was in shock when we walked in the door - he just set there for a full min saying "That's my daddy" over and over. Then he said "Daddy, you are GI Joe" of course we all laughed. It was greatness.:goodvibes They still are not leaving each others side today. It is the cutest thing ever. Of course, in a few days when he has to go back it will be the HARDEST thing ever. But we are enjoying the time while we have it.

I have got to get some of my baking started. Fudge, three types of cookies, and two cakes and What am I doing... Sitting on the computer.

I will gladly share some of our snow with anyone who wants it! We are supposed to get more on Tuesday  which should bring our total on the ground to about 20"!!! And it is c-c-c-c-cold... -28 windchill with actual temp of -6... BRRRRRRRR!!!

I am baking today, too. I have been doing a little everyday since Friday. Today is cutout cookines, tomorrow frosting those.

Hope everyone has a lovely Sunday!

Wow, the sun is out now and it's beautiful. Bizarre weather!

Angela - oh my gosh, how wonderful for your nephew. I got all teary eyed reading your post! You're right, when he leaves it'll be hard but I'm sure they will savor every moment together!! Take lots of pictures!!

The chocolate chip cookies, fudge and cupcakes are all done. I think I'll do some more baking tomorrow or later. I need to clean now. Nothing like cleaning for the cleaning lady. :sad2:

I have an adventure today ... first try at a gingerbread house. We usually pick one up for grandma at WDW, but this year, we were there early, we were flying and the prices went up. As of right now, the dough is chilling. I can only imagine what this thing will look like once we have it together and decorated.

Ooooh a Gingerbread House! How fun!!! We've made them before, or shall I say we've decorated them before. We signed up at our local library where they had the house all assembled, the icing all ready to go along with all the different types of candy to put on it.

Now another year I made a miniature one out of graham crackers. I took the crackers and made a house out of it. I used the white icing you buy at the grocery store in a can kind of like whipped cream. Anyway, it turned out really cute! I made a mini wreath on the door with green and red icing. VERY cute and not a lot of work at all!!! We actually put it up on a high shelf and used it as a decoration!

No clue why I just went into all that but have fun!!!

Shelby

The graham cracker house does sound fun ... and a lot less work! We just finished actually baking the gingerbread. Now, I am about to make the royal icing and the fun part starts. We bought holiday M&Ms, candy canes, a marshmallow snowman and my husband made bushes and a dog out of Tootsie Rolls. That's his thing. But I do have to say, it's a lot of work! I'm starting to think the $38 at WDW is a deal!

Aww, that is so sweet! Enjoy it while you can. I finished up shopping yesterday. I actually think I'm done

I wish I could say I was done with my shopping, I still have my 2 brothers-in-law and FIL. UGH- I keep telling my DH that he is responsibly for them since they are his side of the family. LOL

If it was only that easy.

I'm ALMOST done with my shopping. The only stops I need to make today are Kohl's, Hallmark, and a place to get scratch off tickets (they're great stocking stuffers!). I'm hoping I can get that done tonight after work. I ransacked the mall last night. I was like a machine, hitting store after store after store. My poor DBF could barely keep up!!

As for wrapping...that's a whole issue in itself. It's so time consuming, just to see the paper being ripped to shreds!! I'd gladly pay someone to do it. Any takers? :rolleyes1

It's so cold here today!!! In the teens!!!

I'll do it! I love wrapping gifts!!! :thumbsup2 Just haul them to my place and I'll take care of them!

Woohoo! :woohoo: I used to like wrapping when I was a kid. I always helped my mom out. Now my back gets achy and I end up getting paper cuts and becoming disgruntled. :headache: I'm contemplating gift bags for everything!

I just realized you're in NJ too! Where are you? North, south or central???

Shelby

Central. I'm just south of the Driscoll Bridge where "the shore" begins. Where in South Jersey are you?

I am about 10 minutes southwest of Atlantic City. I am also about 10 minutes from Ocean City, where I grew up. :)

OMG! I literally just squeeled like a 13 year old! A nkotb cruise?! I'm there:love: But seriously they will have to be trapped in their rooms the entire time.

Amy

Wait, wait! It's not for sure a cruise! That's just what the message board people are guessing. No one knows for sure what it is yet.
