Discussing Yavn's Newsletter - Reward program and more pins!

I've given up this game (banned) but I just have one thing to say. I personally think not thought but THINK that staff should send different messages. I mean, yes maybe the players chat is bothering you but than again if you want them to stop your supposed to ignore them?

I guess your right. I think my conscious just told me I should feel bad, and I went with it.

Well, there are walkthroughs posted online for video games, but you don't think the video game developers have their feelings hurt. ;)

Zing!

Point 1 to Pirate! pirate:

Also, do you think this is something Yavn would find helpful to VMK?

Yavn, I don't know where you live but here in SoCal we have a great surgeon who can remove sticks from any bodily cavity in which you find one. :goodvibes

Been busy, so I'm just catching up on all this funness ( ), and I just gotta say... yet AGAIN, apparently the entire point of this game is being missed by the people running it (or at least some of them anyway). The target audience of 8-14 year olds... ask them "What was the license plate on the vehicle that sped away carrying an unnamed character?" and expect them not to use spoilers? Let alone the rest of us adults who actually have, gee, I dunno... LIVES!!! So in these 3 hour quests, or even the longer ones, I'm supposed to sprint to Hollywood Video, take accurate detailed notes on the movie, and then hope it was good enough for the quests? Please. I'm sorry, I know quests are not easy to make as I've been working on mine forever, but when more and more stuff is only available that way AND the quests are difficult AND the vast majority of us are short on time, I see nothing wrong with spoilers. Nothing at all.

Seriously, I feel like I'm talking to thin air here, but this is a DISNEY game. DISNEY. Not random company from who knows where, but DISNEY. WALT DISNEY. YET AGAIN, I'm asking myself "What would Walt think?" It's great to have challenges, it's great to have things to work for. But hey, let's make everything harder and let's criticize folks for things they were never told was wrong (muling big time), and on top of that, let's not make it clear as to what exactly will happen to them. It doesn't apply to me as I only have 3 mules, and I try to play each one once a week for a few minutes at least, and my mom only has her one character that she created in the park, but I don't think it's fair to players to say they're going to start banning when they never said it was wrong in the first place.

So, I guess it's to the point where we should all shake in our virtual boots in fear in a daggone Disney game. Ugh. Yet another moment where I want to quit VMK for good; shoot, when I was in WDW in March, just going in VMK Central stressed me out knowing all the silliness that goes on in the game half the time. I just don't understand why so many things must be rare, or players might be punished for something that was never said was wrong, or whatever else that isn't hurting anyone. Cheating/hacking, now that is wrong and I agree anyone who does it should be busted and kicked out of VMK. But all this other stuff like quest spoilers is seriously grasping at straws and nitpicking, in my eyes. I'll say it again: It's a DISNEY GAME. Not an international spy ring that must be controlled with a whip, but a Disney game.

And I think I'll be quiet now. :rotfl2:

Very very good points!!!

I do think the really obscure quests should have spoilers, for those reasons
stated nicely by SorcererDonald. I loved the "license plate number of an
unnamed character" reference. That's the kind of question that makes me
tear my hair out. But when I see the easier quests with spoilers, I just think
people are being lazy.

It irritated me when I was running my quest that people would still ask
for answers when I felt the picture and clue should have been enough for
them to START my quest. Don't take the lazy way out. The Thursday
night quests are prime examples of easy quests. Why do people feel the
need to post spoilers for that? There were no hard tasks.

Instead of giving answers to my quest, I try to give broad hints to make the
people get the answer on their own. If they truly are clueless, I take pity
on them and give them the answer.

I'd love to see more of the trivia quests, but with trivia MOST people can
find easily. The animated quest is a good quest for trivia. The Tron and
High School Musical quests? Not so much.

Either way.. how would I know the license plate of shaggy dogs car?
How would Monika, my little cousin, (8 years) know? Come on!

Well when it comes to guessing, sometimes you just have to bite the bullet. Just because it probably means you will be doing either Jungle Cruise, Fire Works or Haunted Mansion again no reason to shy away from jumping right in. LOL ussually we all stand around and watch the clock tick while we serve theinternet for these obscure answers, sometimes if a group has gathered we take turns guessing. "Arg not on, back to fire works" the rest of the group is safe for the next guess. hopefully they make it the top choice. It's really a lot of fun, nothing like a group activity to bring people together.

so this gold star thing, do you think it'll be like the vip badge, or a pin????

Probably a pin ... because you probably will be able to get more than one ... and you can only have so many badges.

Ack!

Grape I saw you today in the Gas Station game!

*grins*

I just didn't want to mention the boards in the middle of the room.

And on the star badge subject...

I saw VMK RED about ten times today within an hour.

I have never seen a staff member so much in one day.

They really are looking, I suppose.

;)
