Discovery Island Trails-construction?

How much is the construction interfering with exploring the Discovery Island Trails? I've never done them before and was looking forward to leisurely strolling around looking for animals. But are they all walled off now?
 
I don't think there is any construction by the animal trails. There wasn't in mid October when I went
