Has anyone done this...how was it? and did you feel it was worth the price? Thanks!!

Kristine

We took my father last year for his 75th birthday. He was the only one who did the dolphin swin, the rest of us got the less expensive package. It was worth every penny!! Hope to do it again next year.

We did it in 2003, and it was definitely worth it! We did the package with the 1/2 hour dolphin interaction, which was neat, but you also get the entire day at the facility. Plan on arriving before the official opening so you can get all the registration out of the way and get your equipment before they open the water. I think that my boys enjoyed the stingray reef as much as the dolphins. We went once at feeding time, and the trainers give you food. the rays crawl right up you! There was also a very nice lunch selection. I would also plan on spending the money to get pictures and a video of the dolphin. When we went, it also included a 7 day pass to Sea World, so we went there two days.

It is very different as it is more of a relaxing day. Great memories!

I did it last Thanksgiving with DF and her children. It was the best part of our trip and would do it again and again. Swiming with the dolphins just can't be beat and the park its self is beautiful and very hard to leave at the end of the day. I enjoyed the sting ray pool, dolphin swim and just floating down the river and visiting the birds on the way. The food was also very good and plentiful. As you can see we all loved it and would love to go back at some point.

We went last year on the second coldest day of the year! (christmas was colder). It was still wonderful - used full-length wetsuits, swam with two dolphins, stood in the ray pool, etc.

Me, DH, DD-then 11. She wants to go back this year! (not gonna happen for a couple more years, though)

I say - go for it, it is a wonderful experience. And you will have the secret satisfaction of knowing that you are swimming with dolphins who are not kidnapped from the wild.

When you say cold..how cold was it? We would be there in December...

Ok guys...these wet suits...do they come in a variety of sizes? Hubby is pretty big guy. Are the comfortable at all?

Wet suits come in all sizes. I'm not small by any means and there were still a few sizes larger than the one I wore.

We had a wonderful time. We went in early June. My son was a little spooked by the dolpins even though he really wanted to do this. But he came around when the staff at DC were real gentle with him. Didn't force him, but helped him not to be afraid.

We did Discovery Cove in 2001. My son who was 15 at the time did the trainer for a day program where he got to feed & "train" the dolphins, birds, etc. The whole experience was wonderful and definitely worth the $. Or should I say $$$$$$$$$ !

Discovery Cove is a fantastic experience!

The wet suits come in many large sizes. Get there early for the best selection.

we did it in 2004 and loved it. If we decide to do it again, I will probably just go with the non-dolphin swim--the rest of the park is fun and relaxing. I thought lunch was good, and loved the 7 day pass to seaworld. I thought it was worth what we paid.

You may want to post on the Sea World/Discovery Cove board as well!

We just did the trainer for a day program in October. It was fantastic. My DH was VERY apprehensive about the $$, but I had already made up our minds....lol. Within 20 minutes of being there, he was sold!!!! We all LOVED it.

Swimming with the dolphins was so wonderful. Interacting with them was great.

I would do it again in a heart beat. And the apprehensive one (DH) now talks about DC and says "next time when we go there.... :goodvibes

I am short and plus-sized. There was a full-length suit that worked fine after I rolled up the legs. :)

We did get there early, so had a lot of choices. We noticed that the full suits ran out a couple of hours after opening.

How cold was it -- we are from PA and wore coats to and from the park. I seem to remember it was in 50's or so. :cold:
