Discovery Cove

Okay, we had decided that we would leave out Discovery Cove this year. Then, I just checked the one-day admission prices for SeaWorld, and we thought we may as well just pay the extra for DC and get the 7 day SW ticket thrown in (plus of course DC and lunch!).

However, I just checked the website and they are full for our entire 2 weeks. In the past we have always booked about a year out, so it's my own fault for leaving it so late. I called up and asked if there was a waiting list for cancellations or anything but the staff just said, "you need to keep checking".

Has anybody had any luck getting DC entry at such short notice? I was thinking that there is a 30-day cancellation policy, so maybe about 29/30 days before we leave a few places might open up.

Hi There

We went to Discovery Cove boxing day 2003, and booked it 6 months in advance. However we met people at out hotel from the UK who also wanted to go the same day and could not get a booking whilst they were still here. The guest relations at Discovery Cove told them to keep checking which they did, but to no avail whilst they were here in the UK. However the day before we were due to go, they phoned up from our hotel and as luck would have it they had just had a cancallation from a family of 5, so thankfully they were able to go.

We were then talking to a lady who works at Discovery Cove who told us a lot of people actually cancel the day or 2 before they are due to attend because of unforseen circumstances, so my advice would be to keep trying whilst your here and give it a go while you are over there everyday, you never know.

I will keep my fingers crossed for you.

We cancelled my daughter's dolphin swim part of the visit on the day before, without any problems. But i doubt they opened up the list to let one person in for a swim (she did come into the park, just didn't swim with the dolphins).

We made a last minute booking about a month before we went last year - we had looked online several times but there were no vacances for the 22 dyas we were there, for no reason I just decided to check about a month before we were due to depart and it showed vacancies for the last week of our stay so just to be sure I rang DC and booked it no problems - we had another great day there. Keep looking you might be lucky

We have had the same problem, but have you thought abought the twilight experience this is from 3pm-9pm. We have opted for this (we too have done DC before). I know we are chancing the weather but it still appealed to my two teenagers. The evening has a carabean theme to it and you can still interact with the dolphins etc.You can look it up on DC website.

Hi Minx, yes the twilight experience looked good, but it was also full for all of our dates. I will keep checking though! I'm not going to give up on this!

Well done Frances999 - you will have a great time. We have decided to leave DC this year but will take my parents next year this will be our third visit to DC and I am sure that they would love to see the boys swim with the dolphins
