Did anyone ever go to discovery cove? Is it worth the money? Also, is there any place I can get a discount? :cheer2:

we've been every time we go to disney---every 3 years is when we can. it is awesome. go to www.discoverycove.com to see some of it, but the price also includes your choice of a 7-day pass to either sea world or now busch gardens tampa with a shuttle bus. the day of your discovery cove visit includes a wet vest or short wetsuit ( which i recommend for boyancy) use, goggles, both of which have to be returned at the end of the day. Also included are a snorkel--yours to take home, sea animal safe sunscreen, luinch, and showers with the niceties--hair dryers, etc. for all you get, even if you only go to sea world one day, it's worth it if you like to swim with fishes, you can sit with stingrays and pet them, and a bird aviary you can get free fruit to hand feed them!!! all this is included for the lower price. then there is the dolphin swim!!! i've done it 2 times now and although it was great both times, i'm satisfied to go this jan for the lower price.
hope this helps

agamoore, did you swim with the dolphins? I'm just not clear on how long you can do what while you are there. I doubt they just let you jump in the water where the dolphins are when you get the urge.

I just don't want to drop $100 extra ($300 total) for just 5 mins or so with dolphins but I'm worried if I don't choose the dolphin swim I'll kick myself after I see how cool it is.

I made a post in the wrong forum earlier (hopefully the mods move it)

If you go to the Sea World/Discovery Cove thread, you'll read many opinions of Discovery Cove there.

Our family did it in 2003. We loved it! We also did NOT do the dolphin swim--and that was just fine for us. Watching it from the shore, which you could easily do, it reminded me more of a small group character greeting/photo op than a genuine swim. Those who actually do it might feel completely different about it.

When it is lunch time do you have to get changed into your clothes or are you allowed in, in your swimsuits?

We also did it and loved it as well. Although pricey, I think it's worth every penny. Even if you do not do the dolphin swim, it is a nice relaxing day, just like being in the carribbean.

At lunch, coverups seemed to be the norm and the fodd was excellent.

There is a big discussion on Discovery Cove on the Sea World board on this website. use the scrolling menu on the bottom until you find the Sea World board. There is (was) a sticky about discovery cove there.

That being said, we loved it there!

Thanks Momtom... for that bit of info. :)
