Hi bobbrian! I have been to Discovery Cove twice, and can give it my full and unstinting recommendation. The park is stunningly beautiful, very lush with a peaceful, relaxed feel. It is also impeccably clean.
You begin in the lobby area, which feels more like being at a resort than a theme park. The staff member gives you an ID card, which you will use for lunch (or dinner) and for any photo purchases. Then you head into the park, pick up your snorkle gear, and you're free to enjoy the reefs and the river until it's time for your dolphin swim.
My son and I were there in July and spend almost all of our time snorkling in the river. There are sunken treasures to explore, though there are no fish in the river itself. The coral reef is teaming with fish though, and a waterproof camera is a must! You won't want to miss the Ray Lagoon, either. Really an amazing feeling being so close to those magnificent creatures.
The dolphin swim is the experience of a lifetime. Such powerful animals, and so gentle! If there is any way you can arrange a day at Discovery Cove I think you would not be disappointed. It's an incredibly special place.
