Hi

Looking for some different things to do this time in Florida - looking at Discovery Cove but prices are putting me off. Went on dolphin expereince in Mexico two years ago and dont know if its worth the costs over and above what we're already doing.

Would be great if anyone had any experience of both the one in Mexico and Discovery Cove and whether you think its worth the entry fee if youre not doing the dolphins -

We first went in 2003 and we are going again this year. It seems a better deal now as you also get an entry ticket to either Busch Gardens, Sea World or Aquatica for 14 consequetive days. You also get breakfast (continental) and also a really nice lunch.

I dont know whether it is the same in Mexico but we really like it.

Have fun deciding:thumbsup2

We have done DC twice in recent years, first time we did the dolphin swim second time we didnlt do a swim.

It isn't the cheapest day out but very relaxing and all inclusive, its a bit like a 5 star park with very limited guest numbers. Breakfast and lunch included as are drinks including beer, ice cream, snacks etc throughout the day. Wet suits (if needed) snorkels, masks, towels etc included. There is a avairy, tropical lagoon where you swim with the tropical fish, sting ray lagoon and lazy river.

great relaxing day and as mentioned the price also includes one ofther park

Think im going to book - feel the limited numbers will make it worth it going in July / August - only ever been Feb / May / Sept / Oct before so worrying about long ques everywhere we go

It's a personal thing as far as a second visit is concerned. We didn't particularly get our value for money in March 2005, mainly down to the poor weather, it was freezing cold and our swim was delayed by a thunderstorm.
Please don't see this as necessarily a negative, it was unusually cold when we were there, but if the weather is bad you are kind of stuck for things to do as everything really revolves around the water. To be honest I think they should have added a few other minor indoor attractions, but again that's just my opinion.

There is no doubt it's a lovely & tranquil place but I don't think there is enough there to tempt us to go again, we didn't really do anything else apart from the swim. We probably didn't make the most of it.

I would be wary if you decide to go where you buy the tickets from, the $ is quite poor at the moment.
Also get there no later than 8am if you want an early Dolphin swim.

I really want to do this on my trip in October 2011, I have never done it before but it is so expensive.

We did this in '05 - I have not been to a dolphin experience in Mexico, but have in the Dom Rep, and the interaction with the dolphins was a lot better and longer than in DC. Although DC is a lovely place I wouldn't go back either, there isn't a whole lot to do, as Johnny says. However, if you want a relaxing day in nice surroundings and relatively uncrowded you won't be disappointed :)
