I am considering a family vacation to Discovery Cove with my husband and our kids, a 21 year old and a 17 year old. I would like to hear if similar families enjoyed their time at DC and what appealed to the older kids. I plan to avoid the aviary as I have a pretty stong bird phobia. I would like to hear if the areas outside of the aviary have a lot of birds.

The aviary is covered by netting and there are no birds outside of it. Enjoy your trip (you will)!

I'm 20 and I went to Discovery Cove and I enjoyed myself. It's a nice filled day. I'm sure the 21 yr old will enjoy the unlimted free beer too! hehe

We just got back....it ROCKED!!!!! It is very relaxing and calm! I promise that you would love it! The swimming with the dolphin thing is a little overated...you can go without doing the dolphin swim ($100 cheaper)! I did it and liked it but I am not sure that it is worth an extra $100. Of course, I grew up on the coast and see dolphins all the time.

Our family LOVED the bird avairy. If you are phobic of birds...don't go inside. They fly all over you and land in your hands! It was AWESOME!

I hope that you chose to go!
