ok i don't know if im posting on the right board or not -- sorry if im not??!?

has anyone done the discovery cove dolphin experience? im thinking of booking this for our upcoming trip for me, hubby and 6 year old son. also how do u get there from the disney hotels? is there some sort of transportation? thanks for any tips or ideas!

We did this last fall. It was a great experience. We were off Disney property at the point when we went to DC and we drove, so it was no big deal as far as transportation went.

We arrived early so that we could get checked in and be ready to have fun just as soon as the park officially opened and we could get into the water. We were given an early Dolphin Swim time. It was really cool. I love the pictures from that day. The whole experience was just as magical as Disney, in fact it felt like we found our own little bit of paradise right in the middle of Orlando.

I look forward to the day when we get to go back. I doubt that we will do the Dolphin Swim again, due to the expense, but I could certainly be talked into another day in paradise. ;)

The proper board for this is found.....

There is a section for Sea World on the DIS. If you scroll down and post there, you might get more answers.

I have yet to do the Discovery Cove thing, but Sea World has never disappointed me...and I intend to do it one of these days.

When you ask "How do I get there", try to be a little more specific. Are you driving and need directions or do you want to know if shuttles are available, that sort of thing. The more specific you are, the better answers you'll get.

Good luck and have fun!

We just went to DC this past May and had a blast! We did the trainer for a day experience so that we could have the second swim with the dolphin. It was also nice because they gave us food to feed all the animals. And we got put in groups of 8 and spent the day with a trainer. Everything was very organized and then we got free time at the end. But she took us to everything so we never missed out. :goodvibes

As far as transportation... we were staying at Port Orleans and took a taxi. There is not shuttle from WDW to DC I think it cost about $22 one way. It's about 15 min away. We went to stay at the residence inn which is closer to DC... but it wasn't our cup of tea so we checked out and headed back to Disney property.

We did it last Sept. and had a great time! DD had just turned 8. She loved the dolphin experience. We aren't doing it this year due to money but hopefully will do it next year. We chose Busch Gardens for our 7 day tix. If SW San Diego wasn't so close to us here at home we would have chosen SW Orlando.

We drove so I can't tell you about transporation from WDW. Obviously you can take a cab.

I was just going to post a new thread about a discount I just found. 15% plus $25 to Rescue the Reef.

I've done the swim twice, I was not dissapointed either time and hope to go back again soon!
