Discovery Cove photos!

:)Just got back from DC a couple weeks ago and have been daydreaming about floating on the noodle in the river that I love . I want to be there right now.

Thanks for your trip report, love the pictures. We are thinking about going in June 13'.

I have a few questions: Do you think, someone could have fun even if they did not do the dolphin experience?

Second, my DS is not a strong swimmer, is most of the water shallow enough to stand in or is it deep in most places?

Yes. You can definitely have a good time without the dolphin swim, but that swim was the hilight for us.

It's a mix of shallow and deep. The grand reef had plenty of places where he should be able to stand and the same for the freshwater oasis. He can always do a floatation vest if he's more comfortable.

Have fun.

You can absolutely have fun, a great day, without the dolphin swim. We did it, and we liked it, but it took up a TON of time (while the interaction time was relatively brief, there was a session in advance, with some delays, and then just "having an appointment" kind of uses up time -- you decide not to put on the wetsuits and swim the grand reef because you need to be at the seahorse cabana in 20 minutes... type thing). Anyhow, we liked it but we liked other parts of DC so much, we wished we had more time for them. My kids want to go back but asked NOT to do the dolphin thing again, so they have more time for relaxed snorkeling and lazy river floating.

The wetsuits DO provide a little float though, but aren't intended as an actual flotation device. Supposedly aside from showing the difference between a guest and a trainer, they discourage people from trying to dive to the bottom of the pools. I hear it's possible while wearing them but not unless you're a very very strong swimmer.

We left without purchasing photos from the Dolphin Encounter and now I want those photos. Does anyone know if I can still get those??? We were just there last Monday.
