Hi all, just wondering what to expect with the food at DC?

We are all booked to go this sept, and just wondering what kind of choice to expect and if there is anything that is particularly yummy? Also kid choices for a getting rather picky 2yr old?

DH and l have been back in 2006, but only remember having lunch, not breakfast and snacks that l hear about now.

I read somewhere also about people having dinner there before they left, is that also included?

Thanks in advance :)

As far as I know, if you're there early enough they do a small continental like breakfast with some bagels and muffins and fruit.

Lunch, I don't remember what choices there were, but it was good. And hey, since it's all free, if you don't like what you got, go get something different! And I'm sure they'd be willing to help with a picky child.

As far as getting dinner there, I think that's a stretch. They have the snack bars open until park close, but I think they stop serving meals around 3 or 330, so unless you plan to eat dinner that early, I don't think it covers dinner.

We were there a couple of weeks ago and from what I remember:

Full hot breakfast available with eggs / sausage / bacon / French Toast / Potatoes etc. There are also the usual continental offerings. Drinks for breakfast were water / orange juice / milk (I remember seeing 2% and I think there were flavoured milk drinks too) / tea / coffee / hot chocolate. I'm pretty sure breakfast ended at 10:30.

Lunch - there were six or seven differnet "main" hot items:
- Cheese Burger
- Salmon
- Hot Dog
- Chicken Tenders
- (Thai? Not sure) Chicken Curry
- Pork
...I can't remember if there were any others but there is a good chance that I have a picture of the display plates somewhere. I will post it if I find one.
One the side there were lots of options like fries / Veggies / Rice / Pasta / Potatoes etc. You could pick and choose what you wanted from mains and sides. Any combination fine i.e. you could have burger + Chicken Curry + Pasta if you wanted to.

There were also sandwiches (in french bread), side salads and fruit. The desert section was my favourite and I know I had chocolate cake & my OH had key lime pie. There were lots of other options of cake / cookies etc too and they all looked good.

Drinks - usual soft drinks / tea / coffee + Anheuser Busch alcoholic beverages.

The lunch buffet ran from 12:00 - 15:00.

You could also get various snacks around the park - chips (as in crisps if you are from the uk), biscuits (oreos / fig newtons / goldfish crackers etc) and soft / alcoholic drinks.

You can go through the line for brekky / lunch as many times as you like and snacks are also unlimited. There are some paid for items you can get too like frozen drinks and bigger snacks like pretzels. I assume they will stop serving you alcohol if you are drunk.

**************

Right, just had a look and I didn't take pictures of the buffet itself but you can see what we got for lunch here:

#1 - Salmon with veggies, potatoes & rice (it came with black bean sauce but I opted out). Pasta salad & some other kind of side salad. Bread rolls, chocolate cake, diet coke & Bud Light.

#2 - Pork with apple sauce & potatoes. Mac & Cheese. Side dish of mashed potato (which was cold - not normal for someone from the uk!). Caeser salad, key lime pie and Bud Light.

There whole lot together... we may have got too much!!

There was no "dinner" option that I was aware of but I suppose you could eat at 15:00 and call that dinner. Frankly once through the brekky & lunch line and a couple of extra beers / snacks was more than enough for us. I wouldn't want to waste any more time than that on eating when there is much more fun stuff to be doing!

Have a great visit :thumbsup2

Thank you so much for that, really helpful. And that salmon looks yummy!

Not too long to go now for us, really can't wait

I've been to Discovery Cove 3 times. The food is excellent. They change up the meals, but there is always a burger and hot dog. I've seen mac and cheese and I think thats a regular thing too. You won't be disappointed. The others have posted well too! Enjoy!! Oh and the Chocolate Cake is to die for!
