I'm in the UK and we love DC (daughter wants to work there :thumbsup2)

We will be going again next year and I read that you can hire a cabana whilst you are there, are they worth it? How much are they? Do we book one when we book our tickets? There will be 2 families of 4 going, could we just hire 1 between us?

Hope someone out there can help me :goodvibes

I don't have the answer to all your questions but I will try my best. :) Whether or not it's worth it is completely a matter of opinion. Personally, my family gets a cabana every time because we feel it's worth it. You just have to weigh the perks versus the price for you and your family.

I don't know how much the cabana is by itself, although the cabanas with the packages range in price. I believe the most expensive package is $359 US, which also includes the biggest photo package (among other things). You can purchase one of the packages when you purchase tickets, however if you just want the cabana with no package you will have to wait as those don't open up until a few weeks before your date.

As for two families in one, I don't know for sure. Will you be booking separately? Or booking as one big group?

I was just at Discovery Cove yesterday. We rented 2 cabanas because we had 7 people in our party 5 adults 2 kids and they limit you to 6 people in the cabana.

We thought the cabanas were totally worth it. It was nice to have a central place we could all sit and relax and watch the kids have fun in the grand reef.

The base cabana rental is $179, we added the celebration package for $50 dollars more so my the kids would get a gift from the dolphin during their dolphin swim. Since the children were out having a good time, they actually refunded one of the cabanas and just left us have one which I thought was super kind of them.

I cannot say enough good things about Discovery Cove. It's an amazing place.

We loved having a cabana :thumbsup2 . Definitely worth it, IMHO.

I think some may have changed slightly, though, since our visit in August 2012

I will chime in as well and say that we LOVED the cabana. It is your own little space. My kids could play in the sand directly in front of us and could even go into the stingray pond and we could see them the entire time. So gave us a little relaxtion on top of all the wonderful aspects of the cabana as the above posters have posted.

I think it is definitely worth the money!!!

We were there this past week and loved DC! A cabana would have been totally useless for my family, because we spent 95% of our time away from the chairs. With so much to see in the reef, time to float around the oasis, the aviary, etc...combined with the price tag (not an inexpensive day!)...we didn't waste a minute! Plus, there are PLENTY of open chairs in the shade or sun.

We were just there and loved having the cabana as our own space ... It worked especially well since my Mom came along and didn't swim. She had a quiet place to relax whenever she wanted. Some of the inclusions have changed from what Gina posted.

We wouldn't use it if we booked one we were never in our chairs when there so not for use.
