My husband and I were thinking of doing the the Discover the Magic tour with our kids. I called and spoke with a cast member and it is geared towards kids and families. Has anybody here done this tour or do you know anybody who has done this tour? Any info you can give us would be appreciated!

P.s. This is the first thread I have started! YAY me!!

Welcome MouseyMommy. I went on this tour over a year ago. Here is what I logged about the experience:

Discover the Magic Tour
At 9:10 AM. DGS7, DGS6 and I checked in at City Hall for our Discover the Magic tour.
The tour starts at 10:00 so we killed some time pressing pennies, making Pinocchio dance, getting a fortune, and picking out candy at the Emporium. This tour was so much fun! It turns out we were the only 3 people signed up. The boys were tentative at first. They wanted to go on RIDES and were not sure what Grandma has signed them up for. This tour is a Treasure Hunt. Each treasure chest found has a puzzle piece with a clue to the next chest. The CM was great! She got the boys totally involved. We were running through Disneyland whooping it up like Indians and making finger hooks and growling ARRRGH at each pirate we came across. The first ride on the hunt was POTC. We went in the exit and were immediately put on a boat by ourselves. The boys were totally impressed and engaged from that point on. The next attractions were Tarzan’s Treehouse and Buzz Lightyear. We went to the KA Carousel but it was down. Our CM guide gave the whole family fastpasses to use later on any attraction because we couldn’t do this ride. We solved the puzzle and ended up in Toontown where we got a slushy. Then a private meeting with Mickey in his house where the boys put the puzzle together for Mickey. This tour was well worth the money. We got a 20% discount with the Disney Visa card.

Thanks so much for the reply! I am even more excited now! I think my two older ones will really love this. Thanks for the friendly welcome...I have actually lurked on this site for a few years, so it's nice to be able to post. Thanks again!

With the AP discount it is $47.20. That is for everybody over the age of 3. I thought it was a bit pricey, but it sounds like a lot of fun.

We are going again in September and wanted to go on a tour this time. Would this tour be okay for a 3 1/2 year old? Also wanted to find out what tour has the reserved seats for the fireworks by the main train depot?

Did this tour yesterday. It was cute. It would be fine for your 3 1/2 year old. It was me, DH, DD11, DD3, and 2 other women in town for the 1/2 marathon. The CMs really try to get everyone to play along. They have you find treasure chests along the way with puzzle piece clues. We pretended to be pirates (complete with swords and hook hands.) We visited Tom Sawyer's Island, POTC, Jungle Cruise (they were going to do Indiana Jones, but since DD was 3 they opted to do the JC instead), Tarzan's Treehouse, Buzz, and Mickey's house. We had a private meeting with Mickey and our DDs put the puzzle together for him and everyone told him how our adventure played out. We each received a special Discover the Magic Tour lanyard and a slush in a souvenir cup. It was pretty crowded in the park on Saturday, so it was nice during the tour when we were led through the exit and placed right on the rides. It was a nice one time only thing that our girls really enjoyed.

Thanks, we are still trying to decide if we will be doing this tour. I think the kids will love it, but we have several splurges planned, and we don't know if we will have the funds. We may get AP and do an individual trip with each child, and take them then.
