Trying to figure out if this is worth it.

I got a letter stating that I can get $150 back if I spend $1,000 in May, June, and July (each month).

I haven't used our Discover card this year (since Dec. of 2011) because I don't like their tiered rebate thing. I don't even understand it. Can someone fill me in? You get like 1/4 of a percent for the first $XXX and then 1/2 of a percent for the next $XXX amount, finally working your way up to 1% or something like that?????

I can easily spend (and do spend) more than $1,000 per month using CC as I pay the electric bill, the cell bill, the internet bill, etc....using CC (although I don't know if they all take Discover)....I figure whatever I need to use, I will buy Costco gift cards to buy groceries with the rest as the Costco cards can be used past the 3 months' time anyway.

Did anyone else get this?

I don't know the tiers. I'd say it is worth it if you are putting those things on cc anyway, and wouldn't be able to earn that many rewards on another cc.

We do them sometimes because DH puts lots of semi fuel on cc, but Capital One gives 2% on fuel all the time, so that can be a better deal.

They had a similar promotion that you spend $1500 Nov-March to get the $150 cash back. We did it and on our April statement had an additional $150 in our cashback account. I don't remember what the tiers are exactly but the $150 will be on top of whatever you earn on those tiers. The website will detail it out for you if you look at the cardmember agreement area.
