My friends and I have never done a Disney cruise before and we were considering doing one to the Bahamas to celebrate my birthday in May. I was wondering if there are ever discounts on the cruises or any special offers given? Thanks!

Yes, if it's your birthday in May, you get it half price. Wishful thinking, sorry!! DCL rarely offer discounts, other than late notice Florida resident or military ones (you need proof for both). They don't need to offer them I'm afraid to say as they generally sail full. Have a happy birthday cruise if you do book it! I would recommend doing a 4 night over a 3 if you can, book via a TA to get extra onboard credit, book an inside room or ocean view to save money and don't forget to factor in the cost of tips to your budget $12 per guest per day is the recommended amount).

Just to add that the May 2015 cruises have been out for ages now so prices may have zoomed up. DCL is cheapest to book as soon as they come out, so you may want to hang fire on booking anything for 2015 (if the price shocks you) and wait for May 2016 to come out (guessing Feb/Mar next year).

Book with a specialist DCL TA and ask them about on board credits they may offer for booking with them.

Discounts are rare as the four ships fill up very well and May is popular.

They offer GT rates on many cruises. They also offer Florida res, military,TA, interline, and CM discounts. If you fall into any of those category you can find some discounts. The may prices on the Fantasy have not risen at all, but the Dream and magic have risen a little. We got a good GT rate last May on the Fantasy so I'm holding for another good rate next year.

When offered, discounts like those already mentioned typically come out about 2months before the sail date. So for a May cruise, that will be around March or April. You can book now and be guaranteed a room on a date of your choosing, and start to plan port excursions and such that can be booked 75 days prior to the cruise. Or you can take a chance that a *GT or other discount will come out for some date in May (might not be your 1st choice if dates/itineraries). Regular fares are only likely to increase from now.
