I noticed the current "room only" discount expires on February 28th, I believe...

based on patterns, do they normally release one...very close to the end of the current promotion, before it, after it quite sometime...or what? or does it seem to be completely random.

Frequenting the discounts over the past 2/2 1/5 years there always seems to be quite a few more options...then just the "room only" current offer.

Maybe the activity and reservations are "up" and they dont feel the need to offer a promotion...

thoughts?

Disney Theme Parks and Resorts last quarter saw a 33% surge in operating revenue. Revenue overall for the company increased 7%, and they had an overall net income of [only] $1.08 billion.

More and more people are going to Disney World as the economy slowly gets out of this slump.

Simple Economics 101; Supply & Demand. Demand is increasing for Disney, they only have 'X' amount of rooms available. They know they will fill (or near fill) the rooms regardless - why discount?

I think the days of seeing those great discounts are about to go bye-bye.

(That's just my 2 cents....)

The August/September free dining discount should be released in the next 6 to 8 weeks. August/September is the height of hurricane season, and the reason they started offering free dining 8 years ago. No matter what shape the economy is in, August and September are always going to be the height of hurricane season and a time when WDW will need to fill resort rooms. With the hurricane risk, the God-awful heat and a portion of the population that does not want to take their kids out of school, I think there will always be deep discounts during that time frame.

Here is a link to all the past free dining dates and booking info:
