Hi!
my daughter is in the Career Start program and i was wondering if, as her family members, we receive any special discounts or rewards? I believe i've heard about getting special discounts, but i wasn't totally sure.
thanks in advance for any help you can offer!

What Joanna said. I was just going to add..

-For merchandise discount, she should buy the stuff for you as to not get in trouble as it is sometimes frowned upon to have several family members buying stuff and using your id for all those purchases.

-For hotel, if she stays in the room with you its 50% discount. If she doesn't, its 40% discount.

Actually, it's up to a 50%/40% discount. I just booked a stay at WDW for myself this summer and Port Orleans Riverside wasn't available at a 50% Discount, but I was able to get it for 40% (I didn't take it, but I was able to obtain a room at that rate).

DD is trying to figure out how to book us a room. How does she do that?
Also, do we have to have her with us to use the pass into the parks? Can we hop or is it one day/ one park??

She has to log into the Hub and find the link to make room reservations.

As for using the pass, yes she has to be with you. And its a one day parkhopper you get.

Thanks. I will let her know. How soon does she get her main gate pass? She's been there 2 weeks so far.

3 people 6 times!? I thought it was less than that, sweet!

Just be aware that if you don't have 3 people on 1 day, the extra person/people do not carry over (for example- if you only bring 2 people one day, the third person is wasted).

I arrived on the 5th and my dad called me 2 days ago to say that mine arrived, so it's gotta be soon for her!

They have started mailing them now and require you to change your address on the hub within 72 hrs of traditions.

Also the CM only needs to be with the guests so they can enter the park. After that they are free to be on their own and can park hop.

Remember the pass is subject to blackout dates and there are lots of them. I think this year they don't even list them, they are free to decide it's a blackout date on any given day.

And finally, all members of the party have to be together when you enter. You can't enter and have the other person come an hour later and get them in.

For the room discount, booking EARLY is extremely important. I'll also add that if the guests are staying for a week, the buy 4 get 3 free package is actually a better deal than the CM discount plus if it's the right week you get the 200 dollar gift card. You also get 3 days of free tickets with that package so that's something to keep in mind.

With dining it's 20% at sit down restaurants, but they will take an 18% gratuity automatically. I tend to not tell the server we are CMs until the end of the meal so we are treated properly. Sometimes you don't get the same service if you're a CM because a lot of CMs don't tip well(thus the automatic 18%)

Hope that helps

We will be visiting our daughter during a busy time. (black out dates) Do they still receive 20% off at a sit down restaurant? Would it be cheaper to get the disney meal plan? Thanks for your help.

My DD will be at WDW for Fall Advantage 09 (June to Jan '10). We would like to visit during value season in December (7th to the 13th). Can we make ressie's before she gets there or do we have to wait until she settled there?

Do I understand correctly, that she has to make the ressie? Is there a limit to the number of people that can come, or the type of room? We'd like a 2 bedroom villa at a DVC.

Can we also get the dining plan? What other limitations might we come across?

I can't wait to go back.
I'm so excited for her to have this opportunity. :yay:

Resort discounts can't be made until after you check into the CP.

And yes- the CP has to make it themselves. It all depends on what is available.

Thanks so much, I'll just have to keep on her when she gets there although I know she'll be busy.:)
