Can anyone tell me what the discount % is on food and merch with the Preferred Annual Pass?

It looks to me like it cost about $85 to upgrade to the Preferred from the Power Pass and I'm trying to figure out if we'd get that much savings from the discounts.

I believe it's 10 % on food and merchandise for the Perferred card. You also get 15 % discount on multi day tickets for up for 6 people at the gate.

You get discounts on HHN tickets and free self parking after first visit to the park.

As a Annual Pass holder you are also able to get discounts on rooms if available.

You can go to the Universal web site and it lists the things that are available with each annual pass..

Hope this helps pixiedust:

When you purchase your Annual Pass it is activated on the first day you use it in either park entrance and is good for 12 months unless you bought it during special promotion.

AAA in Florida this year had a special for Florida resident Perferred pass if it was purchased before April 18 you would get 15 months from the time it was activated.

If you purchase it online now but don't plan to go to the park until 8 months from now, can you still use it to get discounts on the rooms being booked for that future visit? Will booking the rooms "activate" it? Also, why does it say that the parking is free after the first visit? Does that mean you have to pay for parking the first day you use it? Thank you in advance for your help! I'm trying to schedule a stay for 7 people in March and with my AAA discount the Hard Rock is coming out to be $5,027!?! I was hoping that I might get a better deal with AP.

Booking does not activate it. You have to go through the gates of the park to activate it. You can make future reservations even though it has not been activated.

Parking discount is only at the parks. If you are staying at a resort, you don't get free parking with your AP.

You don't need the AP to book an APH rate. You won't need it until some time between checking in and checking out, whenever they tell you to stop by and show it to them.

As Damo said, the parking is only for a day visitor. It's not relevant for those of us who stay onsite. It would have been useful for my cousins who bought resident power pass on payments, and have to pay to park at the citywalk/themepark lot every time they take a day trip in from the coast. They should have bought preferred!
