Anyone have any experience with a code or AP discount being applicable to a 1 bedroom? I am specifically looking at the WLV, but if anyone has received a discount on a 1 bedroom at ANY DVC property I'll be interested to know the price...thanks! :flower:

what time of year are you going?? You will probably be better of renting from a dvc member to get a great disount!!

I just booked a one bedroom at SSR for Easter weekend with an AP rate. Including taxes 364.61 a night.

Way too much!!! you can rent from a member a lot less!! go to the dvc points area and members rent from anywhere from 8 to 13 a point--just have to fiind the right person.

I received a AAA discount on a 1 bdrm villa at WL for our October trip. We booked it as part of the MYW package, so I'm not sure whether you could get the AAA discount on the villa alone.

We looked into renting points from a DVC member, but need to have flexibility so went through WDTC.

debbiedoo check out the points needed for Friday and Saturday Easter weekend. I do know that renting points is better for Sun - Fri and that's what I have done for the rest of that week.

Easter weekend points for a SSR 1 bedroom on Easter weekend are 75 per night for Friday and Saturday, 40 for Sunday. At $10 per point rental, if you can find that, the cash rate with an AP discount is a much better deal. In fact, that's what a lot of members would do.

I paid $270 plus tax AP rate for an OKW 1 bedroom last May. It was for a Friday night, extending a points stay (points would have been 48).

Thanks for all the replies!

We are going May 3-10th. I guess I am paranoid about a transaction with someone I don't know, although I realize that most go without a hitch. I'll have to read the FAQ's for the DVC rental board.

Thanks again :flower:

I apologize thought we had a better point deal but don't. 65!!! Yikes!! sun-thurs is the better deal. Have a great trip!! Went to SSR last June and loved it--it was my first trip HOME :sunny:

We have rented DVC points many times and have never had a problem. :)

You could do something like this maybe:

3rd, 4th, 5th - rent dvc points (28 pts. x $10 = $280/night)
6th, 7th - checkout and then back in with cash reservation (56 pts per night if you rented points... OUCH!!)
8th, 9th - rent dvc points again (28 pts. x $10 = $280/night)

We are going April 30 - May 7 and staying at the Poly for much less than that. You might want to check prices at the deluxe resorts before making a decision.

Also I forgot to add... we were quoted $280 per night for the AAA rate for a one bedroom at OKW the first week of May. But the points would only be 20 per night so that's not a good deal.

Thanks Tigrluvspooh - We are traveling for the first time w/our baby who will be 6 months old & we would like her to have her own 'area' to sleep in, in the pack & play. A 1 bd would be great (we could put her in the living room part) but that's a lot of $$ to spend!

I'll take you advice & check the deluxes (hoping for codes by early next month). We want to stay in the MK area so we don't have to put her in the car each time we want to go anywhere or take the bus. I was thinking about staying at the GF and putting the pack & play in the bathroom at night if it will fit (now I sound like an unfit mother :)) She is a good sleeper but you never know how they'll sleep away from home!

Thanks again.

Take it from an expert ;) I took my first son to WDW when he was 5 months old and he slept great! We were so nervous, we were convinced he would never sleep in the room with us (we were at Port Orleans) but he was so tired at night he just passed right out. And the crib was full sized (not a pack n play) which was nice. I brought the bumper pad from his crib at home, which I think he liked having. Also it blocked the light from the TV out of his eyes.

We took our second son to WDW for the first time when he was 5 months old also. We stayed at the GF and he slept just fine. :) I think they just get so much visual stimulation during the day that they are exhausted. :) His second trip he was about 10 months old and did great that time too. We've taken both boys probably 15 times in the last 4 years and sleeping has never EVER been an issue for either of them. So don't feel you have to spend mega bucks for a villa, unless you just really want to and have the budget for it. ;)

Thanks again Tigr! I love that you have brought your babies - some in our family think were nuts but oh well :) She is going to Disneyland for her 1st birthday in October too :)

I think it's easier to bring a baby than a toddler. Babies just sit in the stroller all day, they don't whine to ride certain rides 100 times, and the don't beg for toys and candy all day. ;) She'll be fine. :)
