Hi everyone,
My family is taking the autotrain down to Disney in September. Since our kids are starting to get older (almost 3), I want to go down to Disney twice a year. I read somewhere about getting low rates for Amtraks autotrain (maybe on ebay)? I'm hoping to go again to Disney last week of Jan, first week of Feb. I know this is a really slow time, so I am hoping we can get low autotrain rates. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks, Linda

I know last summer there was a sale on amtrak and autotrain... So I know they do exist. But put Jan or Feb discounts in your title, and you might get more traffic :wizard:

Amtrak closed their ebay store. The best advice I have is to book early.

The only discounts I know of are AAA, Student Advantage, Senior, and Veteren/Military. If you don't qualify for these, I guess the best is just to keep watching the fares.

Amtrak has been running a discount on the auto-train every summer for a while (below), but usually only during the summer.

Other than "Kids ride free" specials, I have not seen any discounts other than those listed in DawnDelion's response (ie.... AAA, Senior, military etc) for a couple of years. Amtrak used to have specials on their "rail sale" site, but the last one of those appeared around November 2003 (we used it for our Jan '04 trip). Supposedly there is a discount with the Orlando Magic card. I have applied for one of those and as soon as I get it I will post back and let you know if that discount actually exists.

I tried to use this on my trip this year with "roomettes", but was told it was only applicable to only "coach" seating.

If the Magic Card discount is applicable to coach seating, that will work for us, because in order to make the trip a little more cost effective in September, we were planning on just doing Coach seating.

I booked two 1 bedrooms for our August trip and got the kids free rate. RTemeber the room price is added on to the coach seat so you are not paying seat price for them but still have to pay the room price.
