Discounts for cruises that do go

Since everything is a guess at this point anyway, do any of you think that cruises that do sail late summer/fall/winter whenever they resume, will have additional on board credits, partial refunds or anything for changes that are going to be there (whatever they are). Or will they use the restricted activities to run a few people off so they sail with less capacity at full cost? And this could be for DCL or any other cruise line. Just curious, as we have a PIF date coming in a month and still trying to decide if we pay or move it. If they sail we are going..... as of today!

No way to know but that sounds great, I’d take some onboard credit. Why not give some onboard credit to the hard chargers who put down some coin and cruise with your company during a pandemic? Let’s cruise!

I also have a PIF date next month. However, I already PIF. If there are limitations on activities I truly hope they allow me to cancel without penalty. This is our first DCL cruise and we opted for a Christmas Day/Concierge cruise. Onboard credits are not a selling point for my family considering how much we already paid.

Do no not plan to buy anything once onboard?

Booked with Dreams and we already have $1k credit. But, if you are spending a significant amount of money for a cruise, and they limit onboard activities, the onboard credit wouldn't justify the initial cost of the cruise. If they gave me a percentage of the cruise value, it might be too much to spend onboard. I'm sure we could spend it but that's beside the point.

No Bingo? OBC could at least cover some of your auto gratuity.

I guess my ultimate point is that I wanted the cruise that was advertised. I completely understand the situation in the world and respect what DCL has to deal with. I just cannot justify spending money on a Christmas cruise if I have to wear a mask or if activities are cutback. I would be more than happy to pay gratuity and buy onboard items if the cruise occurred as planned. Onboard credit will not sway my opinion.

We are going to Disney World next month and I have no issue with the restrictions. We are DVC/annual pass. The trip costs me nothing, aside from food, gratuities, and other things. If I were paying money for hotel and tickets, I would have cancelled long ago.

Since it’s a Christmas cruise looks like you have plenty of time before your PIF to cancel. Since you don’t feel as though you are going to get what you signed up for just cancel and go another time.

It looks like they are cruising concierge so the deposit is not refundable. I had the same problem for a September cruise and since Disney has not canceled it yet i lost a decent sized deposit. I also can’t imagine that they will be able to offer a concierge experience anything close to what it was.

The OP did not mention concierge and that‘s who I was responding to.

The OP wasn't who you replied to. The person you replied to had stated they were booked on a concierge Christmas cruise. The OP said nothing about a Christmas cruise, which was part of your reply.

Sorry, I didn't mean to hijack the conversation.

Going back to the original questions:
Cruise lines are beginning to see an increase in liabilities. Many are already kicking the can down the road with offering credits. That limits the number of people who can pay cash next year or the year after. I don't see them offering any more incentives for those choosing to keep existing reservations. There is still demand. I checked earlier today for availability on our cruise and it is almost sold out.

It will be fascinating to see what DCL ends up offering. I am just disappointed in how they are communicating with customers.

We are a Christmas cruise in November and PIF is less than an month out for us. No way we know what a November cruise will look like but I would think that across the board, there would be something for those paying full price for a limited experience. And yes I understand they are in a no win situation, and also agree that something needs to be pushed out rather than assuming they are going forward with cruise as usual when 99.99% of the world knows that it will not be the same as before, no matter what changes have to be made.

UGH! when I booked my cruise I used cash and DVC points. I saved 30% it was a discounted cruise for DVC, but not a DVC member cruise....they have no discounted cruises for 2021....so if they cancel us even with the extra 25% I loose out big time. Another $650 in cash and another 70 points for the same cabin, same cruise, but in May. Its like Disney giveth and Disney take it away :( They should allow the same discount. I used only 145 points and $1100 for second person on deck 6 with verandah . I checked it out just to see if I stay-ith or if I go-ith 😁😁😁😁....looks like I stay-ith on Sept cruise till they decide to cancel us and have a feeling they will be :)
