Discounts for CASH rooms

What is the discount on rooms reserved with cash? Can the discount be used at all the resorts or just DVC? How does one book a room using the cash discount?

and

Can points be used to book a non-dvc room - say at one of the all-star resorts?

Not sure about the discounts but you can use any points bought direct for a room at the regular WDW resorts (though it costs a lot of points). You can also use any points bought via resale before, something like, March 2011...anything bought via resale after that cannot be used at regular WDW resorts, the cruise line or concierge.

I'd like to know if DVC gets discounts at Swan and Dolphin...or if PAP holder gets discount there?

Yes - I just found the points charts for a non-DVC room. I don't have enough points since I am looking to add on a night to an already booked vacation. I don't care which resort we stay in for that one extra night. Hoping there is a DVC discount.

not exactly.

points cannot be used for any of the value resorts.

also, points cannot be used for any wdw resort with a DVC attached, so nothing would be available at the CR, BC, BWI, WL or AKL.

it's actually fairly limiting even for direct buyers.

The DVC member discount on DVC villas is not always available. But if it is, it should be 25%. There are no DVC discounts on non-DVC villas.

If you want to try for the DVC member discount, you need to call MS. If you have an AP or other PIN, you call Disney Reservation Center. But it may be difficult to link a non-MS reservation with a MS reservation.

Not sure if this pertains to your planning or not, but one can also not book a boardwalk view room @ BWV with cash. At least it was that way previously.

I'm not sure how the cash availability with discounts is determined, this is one of those confounding questions that we will never have a real answer to, but its 25%. We have gotten cash rooms at a discount during high demand times at BCV, like six consecutive nights at BCV during F&W last fall, but tried to get one room for one night last August during a very slow time and nothing was available at either BCV or BWV.

You need to call MS and they will advise of the cash rooms are available at the member price.
