We will be at BLT 12/5-12/12 which is during Pop Warner. Are we doomed in terms of a discount being released for those dates? I wasn't sure if Disney, in the past, has completely blacked out Pop Warner week for discounts or just certain resorts. Thanks!

It's been a few years, but we used to go during that week. I don't recall being blacked out from a discount. Like I said though it has been a while (I think 5 years) since we have gone at that time.

Not that it's a 100% indicator, but have any recent guests received a bounceback offer that included December 2013 date? If so, can you recall the dates included or excluded?

The bounce back dates for December are
Nov 30 - Dec 4 th
Dec 15 - Dec 19th

In the last couple years POP Warner week and the taping of the Christmas Parade coincided and there haven't been discounts.

I know that we adjusted our date of arrival by a day the first year to get the discount for length of stay. But the original arrival date was during the POP Warner time.

I don't know if it will be the same or if there is a chance there will be discount this year.

We got a small discount last year, but Free Dining wasn't offered during the Pop Warner weekend. They also closed Hollywood studios early one night for a "private party" the same night they closed the Magic Kingdom for another "private party". We were stuck in Hollywood Studios traffic on a bus like sardines for 30 minutes in the parking lot. NOT FUN!

We were the during the Christmas parade taping and Pop Warner last year and used an Annual Pass discount. Depending on your room category, length of stay, number of people, etc, you can save a lot of money by purchasing an annual pass for one member of your group. Then, you can add dining to your package too! Annual pass discounts aren't released until closer to the date of travel, but you can keep your current package and switch up to 45 day before without a penalty. So, if nothing else comes out, that can be a back up plan for a discount!

Pop Warner, first full week of December, has been blacked out for discounts the last 3 years.

Yep, and this is a heavy indicator for general public discounts this year also. I predicted that the December FD dates this year would probably be December 1-5 and December 14-19, give or take a day, so I think I was pretty close.

We didn't get FD for our stay in 2012 that was at the end of Pop Warner week, but I did get a 40% discount Pin code for ANY resort catagory.

I don't think you are doomed from getting a discount durring pop warner. We had FD last year at Pop warner time. We stayed a CSR. I will tell you though that it is crazy with all the kids, mostly :cheer2: around. Good luck getting in the pool.

But we are talking about general public discounts. Pin codes are name specific and non transferable and only a minute part of the population will get a pin code discount I'm their email.

Then you must have checked in at the end of the promo and were able to apply it to your stay that went through Pop Warner week, because that week has been blacked out for the last 3 years.

Yes. Last year we had hoped to checkin Dec 8 but the FD code did not begin again until Dec 10. We did a room only for the 9th and checked in for FD on Monday the 10th.

I don't remember the specific date the blackout began but I believe it was the 1st of Dec.

According to Mousesavers, there were public discounts last year that ran for several weeks, with no blackout dates listed. Is that accurate, or would you not find out the blackout dates until you called?

Why Mousesavers thinks that info is helpful without the blackout dates is beyond me - there were definitely black out dates for they time frame.

What is a bounce back offer?

Lisa

A Bounceback is a room only or free dining discount promo offer that is available to you while you are AT a Disney resort. The info is usually on a flyer on the table in your room. The Bounceback offers have to be booked before you check out to receive the discount on a future trip. If there is not a flyer in the room, call the front desk and ask if there is an active Bounceback promo going on.

Really? I would swear the OP asked about discounts in general.

If the question is "Has Disney completely blocked out Pop Warner week for discounts?" then I answered that question. Obviously if they offered me 40% off all resort categories (and I have never gotten a pin before), discounts were out there.

I like to go there at that time of year also. We've gotten free dinng in the past by checking in before the Pop Warner/taping blackout began. This year since free dining looks less likely, I called to ask about discounts for that period and the castmember suggested using a AAA discount. She said you can request that from WDW Travel, don't need to book through AAA if it's just for a room discount. If you want a room and ticket package discount she said that needs to go through AAA. So this may be a way to save a little money if you're a member.
