Discounted tickets at hotels?

I seem to recall reading that you can buy discounted tickets at some hotel desks? Did I dream this?

You can buy tickets at several hotel desks around the area. They are not usually discounted though.

OR you can buy them online ahead of time. There are some discount sites out there too. Can save you a few $$ depending on the type of ticket you are buying.

I would rather avoid the ticket booths and because I am in Canada....I will get a PDF. ticket to exchange.
