Have trip planned the end of January. Got email today to prepurchase gift card at discounted price $500 for $395 or $1000 for $695 did anyone get this and has anyone done this in the past. It says it is good for 150 locations and does not expire

I read about this elsewhere, too. But I don't remember where. It's a Disney gift card that I think you can use at the resorts and in the parks but maybe it was just in the parks?

I got this offer via e-mail - it includes a pin code you need to take advantage of it. I would have gotten it if you could also buy food/beverages with it but it is for merchandise only. It's a great deal if you plan on spending at least $500 on merchandise though...

I got this offer via e-mail - it includes a pin code you need to take advantage of it. I would have gotten it if you could also buy food/beverages with it but it is for merchandise only. It's a great deal if you plan on spending at least $500 on merchandise though...

It would be really great if it could have been used for food and beverage, most of our money goes that way. We love to dine at TS, a little to much I think.

I called the number on the invitation and found out the following:

- This offer is for people who booked a stay between 12/1/08 through 1/31/09 (didn't ask if there were black out dates).
- You already had to have booked your trip when the promotion went out - the rep said all of the "pins" have been distributed and you won't get one if you book a stay for January tomorrow.
- The promotion is non-transferable. Your merchandise credit will be waiting at your booked hotel when you arrive (so if you use someone else's pin # to buy it, THEY will receive your card - anybody want my pin ).
- The card DOES NOT expire.
- You can use it on-line too.
- You shouldn't throw out the card once all purchases made - any returns will have payment credited to that card.

Basically, it's like getting 21% off $500 worth of purchases. Even with the no-expiration, I'm not sure I would buy one (again NO dining) - we don't buy that much merchandise - maybe one thing each per visit (about 4 items per year) so I'd rather not tie up my money now to save 21% off the merchandise. If it were 40% I'd probably jump at it.

Wow your kids must be well trained. I mean Disney World is like a giant mall with rides. Half of what there is to do there is shop. We spend about $100 each trip, so too bad we can't get one.

Ah - there in lies the "magic" for me - by "us" I am referring to DH and me. We don't have any kids so I guess that's why we get off so cheaply

Glad to help with the info and sorry you didn't get the mailer - I hate when that happens but with the way the economy is, you may get another crack at it I'm guessing...

We stayed at AKV on 12/2 and VWL 12/3-12/8. I never received an offer in email to buy these cards. I did get a post card to do a survey on our AKV stay when I got home though. Two of the questions related to whether I utilized the offer for discounted merchandise cards or not. Seems strange since I never got the offer! I added my comments at the end of the survey to tell Disney as much. The trip was booked at the 11 month mark, too, so I'm sure I had my reservations when the deal came out.
