Discounted Annual Passes - Information and Official Exchange Thread

Just a heads up. I tried to upgrade my MYW ticket last week to an AP with the 10% off card and was told at the ticket window that they would only apply the discount to "new" APs. I informed the woman at the window that I have never owned an AP. She told me that it did not matter that no way no how did the discount apply to an upgrade. Had I known this I would have changed my reservation to room only and just purchased the AP while there with the discount.

Now I am an avid lover of all things Dis (as I do still plan on returning in Sept.), but I was pretty upset with the situation. Everyone traveling in my Sept party (4 adults) will be purchasing at least a day or two less of park tickets now and I nixed plans to make any additional quick returns in the next year. I guess that doesn't really hurt anyone, but somehow makes me feel better.

Thanks for the vent, now back to your scheduled programming :happytv:

I'm sorry you had such a rough time, but did you ask for a supervisor? Or try a different window with a different CM? (With all the thousands of CMs around, there are bound to be a few who don't know what they're doing!) Or did you simply decide it wasn't worth it? Others have reported no problems in doing the upgrade and using the 10% coupon.

Just curious, where did you try to do the upgrade? I thought I had read some people had problems in Downtown Disney, but not at the parks.

I feel so sad that you had that happen ~ that CM was VERY mis-informed! I've sent several of my discount cards to people who had NO problems doing exactly what you just described - one as recent as last week too - all they were asked for was my name. I wish you would have either asked for a supervisor or gone to another ticket window because that really stinks that they didn't do it for you! That is the whole point of the discount card & you can always upgrade park tickets to an AP! :sad2:

This is so incredibly wrong, because it says very, very specifically in the FAQ on Disney's own web site that it is allowed. I would call immediately and explain to them what happened.

That is too bad that this CM gave the wrong information. I strongly urge folks to take a copy of the FAQ with them when making this purchase. It does specially state that you CAN upgrade your multi-day tickets to an AP and still get the discount. However, with this in mind this person can still request a refund using CheshireFigment's instructions and email the ticket folks to tell them what happened. My daughter is currently applying for her refund. I hope that poster pursues this deserved refund. For the few referrals I've sent out, I've included a copy of both sets of FAQ for them to take with them.

I would definitely call them or send an email to the address in the original post on this thread.

This is what the FAQ says so you were mislead and they should fix it for you!

Anyone need a discount ticket still? I have three left.

Any advice for me? My blood pressure is so high right now.

We never received our mickey monitor. DH called May 20 and they said they'd send one "right out" before our May 31 trip. Still never received it.

In the meantime, we bought some more annual passes and we're back home. We have another disser waiting on our other cards. Still haven't received it. DH called and was told a run around. He asked to speak to the manager/supervisor and the lady would not transfer him. She just kept telling him that it would arrive eventually.

He explained once again to her that he has called twice and we are running out of time. She still hadn't let him speak to a supervisor yet.......

he's been on hold for so long that I bet she didn't out him thru.......

edited to add: we have a locked mailbox. There isn't any way someone could have stolen it from our mailbox.

I ran in to similar issues when trying to upgrade my 4-day tix to DVC APs with the 10% referral discount. This was at the Epcot World Showcase entrance. Both CMs working at the guest relations booth gave me the same info:

First I was told no upgrades, only new APs.
Then no discount on DVC APs.
Then just the value left on my 4 day tix could be applied to the purchase.

I stood my ground on each roadblock the CM brought up and referred him to the FAQ that was linked from the site listed on the back of the referral card (I didn't have a print-out).

It was all explicitly there except for the last point about the leftover value on the tix being applied to the purchase. He called a supervisor who then advised him to bridge the ticket for the full face value (I bought discount tix from undercover tourist).

It took nearly an hour to get it all sorted out, but well worth my time. We're returning in November, so I wanted APs to begin with. Getting the extra discount was just icing on the cake!

I would try contacting guest services and see if anything can be done for you.
