I think it's totally fair...
If her family bought 4 APs, then they should be able to recoup some of the cost of those APs through the Gift Cards they get from other people getting a discount.

I sent all my cards out last week, and it will be great fun for me when my gift card arrives in the mail in a few months. (I'm assuming they won't waste the plastic and send out a separate card for each AP purchased)
It's going to help me pay for my DH's surprise birthday trip in December.

Well thanks I'll be using whatever gift cards we receive for my oldest's birthday trip in September!

Yup, each AP holder receives 4 referral cards in a packet alone with the Mickey Monitor.

So we got 16.

BTW, we will be in WDW from 6/28 - 7/6(POP), if there's anyone who'll there the same period of time, but haven't decide whether to upgrade to an AP or not, you can email me @ ml2tinkle@twcny.rr.com

That is unusual as we have all had APs here for years and they only send one monitor per household typically.

I just assumed it went off the address you gave at activation - I know I have never registered my AP online (but our momitor comes in my name). My friend doesn't even do email and it came in her husband's name and my daughter I am sure never registered hers and she reports she just got hers today (and btw she lives about 7 minutes from Disney).

Hi Doc. What's funny here is that I am the only one who has ever registered any of our AP's online, and yet our 4 cards came in my dh's name... I swear, no matter how much Disney "stuff" I do in my name, his name gets on everything!

I think that is the case. I have a different last name than DH, and my kids' have my ex's last name.

So we got 1 in my name, one in DH's, and my kids each got one (although their last name is the same).
