Discounted Annual Passes - Information and Official Exchange Thread

My parents became first time DVC AP holders in mid-February. They have never recieved a Mickey Monitor. (live in Chicago area as well). How often do they mail this magazine out? Is it expected now?

Thanks for the help!:goodvibes

Quarterly...the Summer 2009 issue is in the process of being mailed out now.

I just got mine in the mail today, as of right now I have 7 cards I can give away. If you would like one, send me a pm with your info.

Great. Thank you!

NEW QUESTION:
I was just on the passholder site and was reading the fine print about the rules for the discount.

"Savings applied based on non-discounted price of a Disney Annual or Premium Annual Pass.":confused3

Does this mean I can't use the 10% off my DVC discounted AP?

I'm confused!;)

Badgerfan, I just pm'd you! I certainly could use one! But since I'm leaving tomorrow, do you think a scanned copy would work? Anyone know?

I think I've posted this a half dozen times so far... :)

The DVC AP is its own ticket in a sense, and has its own price. Don't think of it as getting a discount off the Tourist AP. It is what it is - and all indications are that yes, you get the 10% off the DVC AP.

Still waiting for my MM... :(

I read you can not copy, must be the original card.

Our family is leaving home this Friday morning and will be at the World 5/10 - 5/15. We are planning on purchasing 2 APs, and would love to have a referral card. Someone on the DIS has offered their's to me, but unfortunately they have not received them in time to send them to me before we leave home.

I read that you can get the discount after the fact if you bring your receipt and the pass along card to a ticket window before July 31. Does anyone know if there is a way to do this if you cannot return in person before July 31. Can the receipt and card be mailed in?

If not, is there anyone that has a card that will be at Disney during 5/10 - 5/15 that would be willing to meet up with me?

Just a tad confused. We are not going until August 23rd. If I could obtain a discount pass, what would I have to do with it in order to get the discount. Could I present it when I purchase the voucher even it that were after July 31st? Could I purchase a voucher before July 31st or would I have to purchase the actual pass before July 31st?

So many questions...I feel so dumb!!!!

You can only purchase a fully activated AP with the cards, and you would have to do so before July 31st.

ellenbenny,

This was posted in post #36 by the OP.

It says there is a way to request a refund if you cannot come back in person.

It appears that it will be in the Mickey Monitor. So you have to be a current Passholder to get the new/current issue.

If you are a Passholder and have not received the MM with the card, there is a procedure in place. There is a special form available at Guest Relations Offices (but not ticket windows, since they don't have "normal" printers) to send in to get the MM and card. The AP or PAP will then be sold at full price. The purchaser then comes back with the receipt and the card by July 31st and gets a 10% refund. (And there is also a procedure in place if they cannot return by that date.)
Since a MYW ticket can be upgraded to an AP or PAP at the discounted rate, the regular "Upgrade to AP" rules apply, including bridging prices if the original tickets were purchased at a discount.

This does apply to DVC discounted APs also, but the DVC Mmeber must have their Membership Card with them as certain data from that must go into the system.

I received my MM in the mail today. I have TWO cards left to give away. Send me a PM with your address and I'll have them in the mail tomorrow.

Sharon :)

Mine are all spoken for. When my BF receives his in the mail in a few days I'll have three more to give out.

Question. We have the 4/3 deal and bought 4 10 day MYW NE with the plan to upgrade to the AP. The cost to upgrade if we get the bridge would be $136. The 10% discount on the APs would be $200. Do you think we should buy the APs and pay the $136 and then turn around another day and ask for the refund for the $200?

I'm in NY & have not received my Mickey Monitor yet. Anyone else in NY receive theirs?

I have a friend that is hoping to purchase AP's that will get there on July 30.

I have ONE card left to give. I will be mailing the cards tomorrow, so if someone PM's me their info tonight, I'll have it in the mail with the others on Thursday.

Well, that was quick! I am now officially out of cards. Everyone who sent me their info will have their cards in the mail tomorrow. Thanks, and have fun!

Unfortunately the cards say they must be surrendered after use.

Otherwise we could circulate all the cards until they reached the full 24 discounts, which would be extra beneficial for all of us.

I wonder if the bar code would work again if the card wasn't surrendered?
The procedures state that the person selling the tickets has to not only scan the bar code into the Automated Ticketing System computer but also that the card, along with a copy of the receipt, has to be turned in with the other paperwork when banking out.

And one thing we have learned is you do not mess up with bank out if you want to keep your job.
