Discounted Annual Passes - Information and Official Exchange Thread

How are you all handling the purchases?

If I read the link correctly, the discount can only be used at an onsite ticket window. The current AP holder has to be present to show his/her card to make the purchase.

Am I right in thinking that the current AP holder and the newbie have to be there at the same time in order to purchase the new pass?

I hope I’m missing something. If not, I may not be able to use this discount.:sad1:

We are purchasing 6 new DVC APs in late June. If I am understanding this promo correctly, I do not need to get someone else's "pass-along" card because all I need to do is purchase the first AP for full price, then go to guest relations and fill out a form for the discount and MM. Go and purchase the 5 additional DVC APs, go back to guest relations with the receipt for the other five and I will receive the 10% adjustment and the $25 GC for the five tickets? Correct?

I believe you have to have already been an passholder as of May 1st. So this would not work. Otherwise why bother with the pass-along stuff? Just give discounts on new APs across the board...

CF already said there is nothing to indicate that the AP holder needs to be present - the purchaser just needs your pass-along card.

My family and I are leaving on June 14th for our WDW vacation. We would REALLY appreciate it if somebody has an extra card available. We would need 3 APs. Anyone that is willing to share. . . first, let me say "Thank you!" :cool1::worship: But, please PM me.

Thanks again!!!!

have you gotten your Mickey Monitor yet? I'm waiting for mine, but it didn't come today. I did call the passholder number and told them I've not gotten one yet and they took my AP info down and my address and said they would make sure I get one ... we'll see.

I have not gotten mine yet but I always get them so I have no worries! :goodvibes

If I don't have them by them time everyone here is reporting they've received their's I'll call the number, thanks!

pm me please -- need to def purchase 3 and likely 5 AP's when I get to wdw sat may 9th. you would get definitely 3 and posibbly 5 gift cards.

Any help is appreciated -- will pay postage.

I forgot to mention that I'd, of course, pay the postage!

Thanks again!!!!

We'll be going to WDW on June 5th and will be purchasing 3 APs. Please PM me if you have a savings card available. Thanks!

I believe you can buy up to 6 AP's with one card.

Thanks I just realized that the passes have to be purchased by July 31th, we aren't in the park till August 27th - so this isn't working for me. Oh Well. Maybe next time. Thanks anyway

"If you are a Passholder and have not received the MM with the card, there is a procedure in place. There is a special form available at Guest Relations Offices (but not ticket windows, since they don't have "normal" printers) to send in to get the MM and card. The AP or PAP will then be sold at full price. The purchaser then comes back with the receipt and the card by July 31st and gets a 10% refund. (And there is also a procedure in place if they cannot return by that date.)"

Sorry, I checked back I read the April 14th note incorrectly, it seems all AP holders are eligible. I linked the FAQ from the AP website below. Hopefully that will answer some questions. But you still have a 3 week wait for the MM once you fill out the form.

In addition, when you fill out the form for the MM at guest relations, the Mickey Monitor is mailed to your home in about 3 weeks. (I called the passholder office today because I wanted to see if I could pick mine up since we leave tomorrow morning--we are AP holders, but the family is arriving on May 9th and are buying APs, so it looks like we are buying at full price and getting a refund later.)

The AP holder does not have to be with you when you make the purchase. These are referral cards that we can hand out to anyone we want. The person who gets the card can use it for 10% off of up to 6 APs, and we, the AP holders get a gift card of $25 per AP they buy. It's a win/win for all of us.

We're AP holders based in the UK, so unfortunately don't receive the Mickey Monitor, and I guess will therefore not be getting a pass-along savings card. However, we are heading out to WDW in 7 days now, and do need to purchase new APs for our 2 kids....so, if anyone has a savings card that they aren't making use of, would it be possible to send it through to the address in Orlando where will be staying?

Happy to compensate for time and postage, and if I understand correctly, you'll also receive $25 x 2 for the APs we need to buy!

Please PM me if you can help - thanks in advance.

I'm still on the hunt for a savings card for the 2nd two weeks in May. Anyone who will be there and willing to share a savings card? I am interested in getting two AP's.

I also have thought about this, but since this has to be done as one transaction, couldn't a couple of people do the savings card transaction together to make the total of 6 AP's at one time. I'm saying, let the first person go through with their purchase, then the second person finishes up with their purchase, all while standing at the ticket window at the same instance. It would seem as though this could work, but again, I'm not sure. I'm only saying this, as I am interested in two AP's, but I know several people have posted asking about 3 or 4, or even just 2. It seems that one savings card could actually pacify two different people if they work the situation out, then pay individually at the ticket window, right? That way they are registered for the same AP owner's account, and credited for their gift cards too.

Does that make any sense? I'm hoping that's true, as I would like to work something out for my dates in May with a savings card that I would love to share with someone else who has one.

First I have a question for Cheshire ...

My daughter lives in FL and has an AP that was activated prior to becoming a CM - she used it a few months and then was hired back on at Disney. She gets the monitor at her FL address but is a CM. Can she pass out the cards as well or will she be ineligible due to her CM status? Always need to be careful about this stuff.

And for the others -- I will have two monitors (a friends and mine, even without my daughters) and will be willing to pass out cards but I would rather wait until the Monitors are in hand to offer up the cards. I will be there June 5-12 and would prefer to meet up with people I think - have to think on that.

Liz
As long as she gets the MM the Referral Card should be in the newsletter.
I might be able to help you, if I am reading this offer correct. It is supposed to be four cards with each MM. I will have another if that is the case. pm your info & will forward right away.
bon
No, there is only one casrd in each MM. But the card is valid for up to six APs.

Not correct. You have to have been a Passholder prior to the start of the promotion. The special procedure is for those who should have received the MM but did not.
I believe you can buy up to 6 AP's with one card.
This is correct. And whether you purchase one or six the card is retained by the ticket seller and has to be turned in when banking out. So it can only be used once.

If that is true about there being only one card in the MM, then that might mess up some people's plans to help out fellow DISboarders. If somebody hasn't committed their first card to anybody, please PM me. I need to get 3 APs.

THANKS!!

They'll be here all week, though, so maybe I should tell them just to purchase 5 day park hoppers and then upgrade at the end of the week.

Thanks,
Brett

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet (so sorry if they have) but you can only upgrade what you have not used yet as far as my understanding goes. We did this last September with our 7 day park-hoppers that we received with our package. We went to Guest Services @ MK our 1st morning there & the man we talked to said that it was good we didn't use anything yet because we got the full 7 day price toward our AP's! It was awesome!

ANo, there is only one casrd in each MM. But the card is valid for up to six APs.

Actually, according to the FAQ you can get to via the passholder site, which appears to be geared towards the current passholders, it says in regards to getting more pass-along cards, that you are "limited to the four cards received with the Summer Mickey Monitor". So it appears that we indeed should be getting 4 cards.

If we get only one, then those people seeing them and buying 6 APs will become our bestest friends... :)

This isn't true (but if you read the right threads, you'll see that some CMs really don't know what they are doing in this regard). In fact, it is highly recommended that you use the ticket at least once, and upgrade it within the first 14 days. You would then get full GATE price for whatever the original ticket was (regardless of what was used), even if you purchased the ticket at a discount.
