Discounted Annual Passes - Information and Official Exchange Thread

It was just something that crossed my mind...some people think of the DVC APs as being simply discounted, but most of the docs I've seen typically list it like another type of pass at its price. The passholder site does have language that mentions the 10% off the "Savings applied based on non-discounted price of a Disney Annual or Premium Annual Pass.", but I'm not sure this applies to the DVC "discount".

Go to the first post by the OP. Click on the link that tells you about this offer. Mid-way down there is another link that takes you to FAQ. Mid-way down it does say the 10% off is for DVC APs too. I printed all of the info to take with me tomorrow.

I would help if I could, but we leave tomorrow morning and my mickey monitor will probably come while I'm there. There is a FAQ section on the AP website and there is info on the disney website with a different set of FAQ. It does indeed say in the FAQ that DVC APs are eligible for the 10% savings. But you have to have the referral card to get it. We are struggling because we do leave tomorrow, but the family arrives next weekend and plan to get APs.

This thread is more appropriate on our Theme Parks Board where they have discussion on this topic already. I will move this thread on over there for more input...thanks!

hi all...if anyone is willing to share their discount card us we'd really appreciate it!!! i'm looking to purchase 5 annual passes at the end of may!! thanks in advance!!!

Umm...I'm NOT saying that you can't get the discount on DVC APs...I am simply referring to whether the 10% discount happens before or after the DVC "discount". If the DVC price is actually full price less a discount, then the 10% should apply FIRST (according to that language I cited), then the DVC discount, so you would get $147 off the full, undiscounted price of a standard adult AP. But if the DVC price is not a "discount" but a separate class of ticket, like it appears to be listed, you'll only get $137 "off" the full non-DVC price.

That is why I keep putting the DVC "discount" in quotes.

The information says the referral cards will be in the May mailing. It also refers to "current passholders". The program start date was May 1. This very strongly implies that you have to have been a passholder at the time the promotion started.

Having an Exchange Certificate does not make you a passholder as the certificate may be used by anyone. It is a bonus that you can get on the passholder section of Disney's Web Site without haveing an actual AP.

There is a procedure for people who do not have the referral card in hand. It can only be done at a Guest Relations Office (not a ticket window and definitely not a Resort).

No, it is for any current AP or PAP holder.

Yes, it can be used with tickets purchased at a discounter and the normal "price bridging" policies will be in effect. See Post #7 in the sticky in my signature.

I don't know. Check the Passholder section of the Disney Web Site or invest in a call to 407-WDW-PASS (939-7277).

There may be up to six discounted APs on one referral card. And the card is limited to a single use and must be collected by the person who sells the tickets.

It appears to be a request to be sent a replacement copy of the MM.

Bring all the APs and the receipt, as well as the Referral Card, with you to Guest Relations no later than July 31 and the overpaid amounts will be refunded.

Thank you so much Cheshire for the responses! I greatly appreciate it!

If there is someone who would like to share their pass along card with me, I would greatly appreciate it. You can PM me if you have one for me. Thanks so much in advance!!!! My previous post is 57, so you can see my original request:) With this discount, I will probably be getting 5 AP's:)

I'm willing to share. This is the first MM we will get though, so I don't know how quickly it will come and the website says it could take upto 3 weeks if you don't get one and request it. Send me a pm with your email and we'll talk :-)

Whoa, hold on.
A DVC pass is 392.99 (adult)
10% is $39.
Or am I wrong on my math AGAIN?

Bigger thread here with more details.

No one has actually received the cards yet, which will be mailed with the upcoming Mickey Monitor newsletter to current registered passholders. It might be worthwhile waiting until people actually have them before soliciting them...but my suggestion in that other thread hasn't helped :)

The benefit to the current passholders is greater if the receiver is getting more APs (up to 6), so those buying 5-6 APs are likely going to be very popular... :)

YES, this applies to DVC APs as well.

This CANNOT be happening.
Groundhog day with a new twist.
Where oh where is the pixie dust when you really need it?!?!?!

This is so hysterical to me.
First we deal with the 4/3 upgrade with nonexpiring ticket 10 day etc etc etc
Now we have ANOTHER part to work out!
Robo and Doc, Disney is not making your life easy right now!!!

I've REALLY got to stop thinking about these things. :)

Anyways, this should be far simpler than the 4/3 thing. It will be what it will be, just trying to set expectations. :)

My examples were the pre-tax prices (although I often use post-tax prices). Your math is also correct. Mathematically it doesn't matter if you apply the 10% before or after figuring the tax, it all works out the same.

Okay. Here is my plan..
I will use the ticket once, hand them the referral card, my DVC card, and my credit card. I will sign the credit card slip when they ask me to, and I wll thank them and go about my day.:thumbsup2
Those are my only expectations. I am pretty sure they will be met.
I feel so bad for the guys and gals that have tried to explain this to me 8 gazillion times! My Mouseears are off to you!:worship:

Cards (plural) to Some (plural) makes me think we can get more than one eventhough the post on the first page says one per family??

:confused3

FYI: I was offered a card from one of our kind DISer in the UK, if they could get one at WDW because they do not receive the Mickey Monitor over there. I just called for her to verify whether or not she could get one when she gets to WDW. I just spoke with someone at Passholder services and was told that their info states it is for US AP/PAP holders only. They did transfer me to ticketing to double check, but they told me that was the info they were also given.

So, due to my above post, I am once again looking for anyone willing to share the card when they receive it. We are going the second week of June and are upgrading our MYW tickets to AP's. Please PM me if you are interested in helping out.

You get one Mickey Monitor per family. Each Mickey Monitor will have 4 passes in it. Each pass can be used to buy up to 6 annual passes.

Cool! Thanks!

So I've already offered one of mine to a lucky family. Feel free to PM me if you'd like me to mail you another one of mine!!!

A regular DVC AP (Adult) is $369.00 plus tax ($392.99 including tax)

The discounted DVC AP is $332.10 plus tax ($353.69 including tax)

The difference is $36.90, which is 10% ($39.30 including tax)

The Age 3-9 and the DVC PAP are similarly discounted.
