I think someone posted earlier today (scroll the last couple of pages) that it's a couple of dollars cheaper to buy a new one outright...and then you'd get the $25 too!!!

Just looking at the adult non-premium prices not including tax, Tourist would be approx. $7 cheaper, FL Resident less than $2, and and DVC would actually be about $7 MORE.

For all those who have asked over the last several pages about whether you can buy new instead of renewing...Disney isn't going to hold a gun to your head and say, "No, you must renew!"

Now, if your existing AP hasn't already expired, can you buy a new one? That's an interesting question. I assume Disney wouldn't care - more money sooner for them...

Yes, that's exactly what I am saying. So if I am not there in person, an AP cannot be purchase by someone else in my name?

In ticket sales we are required to have a photo ID for anyone 18 or older. And the name, address and birth date have to be entered in the Ticketing System to be able to print the Annual Pass.

Two unrelated questions to which I don't see answers in the first post or FAQs...

1. Does the recipient have to be unrelated, or living at a different address than the giver of the referral card? i.e.: can I use one of my referral cards to get a discount on my son's new AP? Does the fact that I'll be paying for it make a difference?

It can be used by anyone.

2. Can they be used on APs purchased at a reduced rate through SOG? I don't know anything about how those SOG APs work, but the FAQs specify the discount can't be used on APs purchased on military bases; does SOG count as a military base, or is it considered a WDW ticket window???

No. It has to be a new AP or PAP purchased at a WDW Ticket Window or Guest Relations Office.

I have a friend who has an AP now. It will expire two days into her trip but she will be there for two weeks and was planning to renew. Can she let the old one expire and then buy a new one using one of my coupons???

Yes. A Renewal Tourist (Non-Florida Resident) is $429. The Discounted new pass is $422.10 as well as the $25 gift card to the referrer.
