I know that many of the regulars around here are US AP holders but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the discounted 7 day tickets that are on ebay? There is one seller who has great feedback and has been selling these for awhile. I'm just wondering how they obtain these and why they have the time period restrictions that they do? Normally, I would not buy tickets on ebay but these look legit and would save us over $100.

Anyone know anything about these tickets or better yet anyone have any experience with them?

Thanks :)

I have heard stories on these tickets were people have went to use them at Universal and have been turned away for different reasons .
One is they were sold passes that were already used and the other is they were somekind of group or timeshare tickets but in anyway if they are going to save you $100's then it is a rip off cause Universal is selling them at such great prices right now and like many others here would say with the way things are right now support Universal and buy from them and know you are buying a legit ticket and as a reminder the person on ebay can make several acounts and give himself great reviews or have others in on it with them :thumbsup2

I bought mine from Undercover Tourist and save about $15 off the official Universal site. I wouldnt buy from Ebay its just not a safe bet IMO

Undercover Tourist is well known and very reputable.

I'd be VERY careful buying any tickets off Ebay!

After I read your post, I went to Ebay and saw one seller selling a 2 park unlimited ticket for $137.77 plus $9.77 shipping ... you can buy the same ticket online from Universal right now for a total of $108.64 and can either print off your ticket at home or pick up your ticket at Universal. :confused3

As for Undercover Tourist ... their ticket price for the same 2 park unlimited is $100.95 - so you are only saving about $8 per ticket

Thats what I was trying to say to the op was how can paying $38.90 more than the Universal price be saving hundreds :confused3

::yes::

The tickets advertised on ebay are for 7 day 2 park tickets. 2 tickets are listed for $160. They are only good for March thru July. That is a savings of $40 plus taxes for each 2 that I need. Plus I would get additional savings by buying thru Ebay gc's and a rewards program. All together for 4 tickets I would be saving about $150.

Normally I wouldn't even consider these tickets but the seller has been selling these for quite awhile and has outstanding feedback. They haven't sold just one or two and it would be pretty hard to manage to give yourself over 200+ positive feedback for the same item. It seems that they have some way to obtain special passes for Universal. I'm curious as to how they do this and determine of they are legitimate.

I appreciate everyone's desire to caution me (and others) in regards to these, however, so far they seem legitimate and I am curious to see if anyone has any experience with them or knows how in fact this seller is able to get these.

That would raise a red flag for me ...

Usually 2 park unlimited tickets don't have a set time to use by - they expire six days after first day of use at either theme park so if you buy the tickets now and don't use them until February 2010, they would be good for 6 days from the first use in February 2010.

Also, it says right on the Universal site that "Ticket is non-transferable, non-refundable, and may not be copied or resold" - so by buying from Ebay I'd say you are taking your chances that they won't accept them at the gate.

Does anyone know someone who purchased a ticket from Ebay and was actually turned away at the gate?

I'm asking because I purchased a multi-day ticket on Ebay this past week. The seller is someone who doesn't typically sell tickets. I should receive my ticket next week, but the pictures in the listing show that it was not signed which I would assume would guarantee it was unused, Right???

As far as Universal turning someone away because it says tickets can't be transferred or resold, how would they know that it had been or not? When you purchase six tickets you don't give them individual information for everyone your buying them for, so how would they know if I purchased the ticket or not??

The listing for the ticket I purchased was started after everyone received their emails about winning the free tickets from the Super Bowl Contest. She could be selling one ticket because she won one and doesn't need this one now.

One last question about the pricing comments - Within the last year you could purchase the Universal 7-day pass for $79.99 and now they are $99.99. People could have snatched some of these up at the lower price with the intent to sell them once the prices increase. Who knows??

Yes, I have personally seen it happen many, many times.

When the tickets are scanned, it shows who ordered the tickets, how they paid, date of order, phone number, and address. If it doesn't scan properly,(which happens from time to time) you will have to know the name, address, and other identifying information about the purchase like when and how you purchased the tickets. As far as a signature, most of the newer tickets don't have a place for a signature. They use the fingerscan instead. It sounds like the ticket you are buying may be several years old.

Unless they are a ticket agent/broker, then it is illegal to buy up tickets with the intent to resell them. I wish I could reassure you that your tickets will be fine, but there is now way to tell until you go through the turnstiles with them.

Is there anyway to know if the ticket I purchased on Ebay is valid? Or do I just have to wait until we go to the park??

But these particular tickets are different--they don't actually send you tickets but an eTicket confirmation and you pick your tickets up at the gate of Universal studios. And not a single negative feedback from this seller, either.

It makes you wonder....

I went ahead an ordered mine.

The homies will correct me if I'm wrong but the e-tickets you pick up at the kiosk after entering your confirmation number on your receipt and swiping the credit card the ticket was purchased with. Let us know how things turn out for you, we are only trying to save you any grief.

You are right pixee and if it says you get a confirm number and to pick up your tickets at the kiosk then you have to swipe the credit card that purchased the ticket :thumbsup2

I know you need to swipe the card used to purchase the tickets. If you really want to know how it works, why not contact some of the people who left feedback for the seller:confused3

Ever since a bad experience and getting hacked on ebay, I don't use it anymore.

By the way guys I just wanted to say this and will be the last thing I post on this and that is if you try to buy the ticket that was won onthe superbowl commercial just keep this in mind that you have to show id at the ticket window in order to get the ticket and if the name and address doesn't match up you will not get the ticket and it will not matter if you have the confirm number or not cause you had to give your address and name to win those and whether they are selling them cause they are not able to use them makes no differance you still won't be able to use them cause your name is not on them as it will be the winners name .

I don't think they were saying the person is selling the ticket they won. I think they were saying the person who won a ticket is selling one they bought and no longer need now that they won one.

It's been a couple of years (2006) but I did purchase three tickets from Ebay because the price was good at the time and had no problems. I purchased them from someone who purchased them but was unable to use them so it worked out for me. Universal and UT have got good prices and some of the Ebay sellers are overcharging.

You may present your passport as official govt. issued ID. A passport does NOT have an address on it.

For the Superbowl tickets you need photo ID. A passport will suffice but the name on the ticket must match your photo ID.
