Discount through Cheaptickets

We made the switch from a CSR Standard room to a POR Garden View from getting the Orbitz 15% promo code, but the CT promo code was just better. We originally wanted POR (we're from the southwest! haha) but was just right out of our budget originally, CT saved us another $50 from our original CSR booking. We decided it was definitely worth it to book a hotel with a theme we liked better, and save $50 more. Though, it overall saved us over $400 from the disney website . :thumbsup2

BTW, Cancellations were made immediately, and our new reservation was put in within record time. Magic bands already customized and ready to go! Money was also refunded very quickly. Haven't called yet to reserve/change ME, will sometime early this week. :)

Now that I've stumbled upon this thread... I am torn!!

I am already booked at POR for mid-May in a standard room. I am paying $681 for 4 nights. I can get a standard room with a water view on Cheaptickets for roughly 50 dollars cheaper total. Or, I can book a Royal Room (which is what I originally wanted but was $40 more per night with Disney) for basically the same price as my standard room now.

I can't decide if I should keep my current reservation through Disney or go through cheaptickets and get a Royal Room and cancel my Disney reservation.

DH thinks switching will mess everything up, but I am seeing mostly good stuff in this thread. It's just DH and me, no kiddos to worry about.

Is it a huge hassle to switch to save 40 total dollars or to just upgrade to a prettier room at the same cost? Also, would Disney charge me to cancel my current reservation for May?

It wasn't a big hassle at all for me. I made May reservation with CT, then canceled with Disney. When I canceled, I asked the CM if she could see my new reservation' and she could. there was no cancellation fee. If you've made dinner reservations, they'd will remain in your MDE. If it was just $20 I'd probably pass on canceling, but I think getting a room I really wanted would be worth it to me! :)

Good luck with whatever you decide, but I think the 25% code expires tomorrow. Not sure, though.

I decided to book the Royal Room at POR through Cheaptickets! It is the same price that I am paying with my existing (and soon to be former) reservation through Disney for a standard room at POR. To me, it is worth it to get a room I really wanted. I upgraded decor, so even though I didn't save any money, I got what I wanted and more bang for the buck. Yay!!

Glad you got what you wanted! I know some people see a room as just a place to sleep and shower, but, for me, the room and the resort are such an important part of my vacation experience! :goodvibes

How much do you pay when you book through cheaptickets? Is it the full price or the one night deposit?

I almost did book a spring break trip with CT today, until I looked again at the "taxes and fees" and decided to actually breakdown what were taxes and what were fees which lead to me calling SoG and... It turned out that almost 5% were fees which made the 25% off code closer to 20%. There is nothing wrong with that amount of savings during a period otherwise blacked-out for discounts (we usually use the military 40% or AP rate). But, this made the savings closer to what I could get with a SoG overflow rate. Just to recap, during military and AP rate black-outs, I have booked SoG overflow rates of 20% off. These are available to SoG eligible guests when SoG is fully booked. In the past, you couldn't book a CL room through SoG (we love WL) and CT had no "Promo Code Eligible" WL rooms at all from 4/14-19 so I was going to book BWI instead. I noticed that the CT fees made the discount closer to 20%, so I decided to give SoG a call to compare their total price to CT's. SoG was a bit higher since it was only 20% off, but I was willing to book with them since I wouldn't have to do anything to add our DD, I could easily add room requests and I have past experience with them and feel comfortable with them. As I was almost ready to book BWI through SoG, I decided to ask again if I could book a CL room. For many years, I've asked and have always been told NO. This time, I was told YES so I booked WL-CL for spring break at 20% off. When you are comparing CT discounts with other discounts, make sure to compare the bottom line, "out the door" price with the taxes and fees, not just the nightly room rate. The difference might not be much, but I also think it's worth something to feel comfortable with your choice. Good luck and I hope the next CT discount is even better for everyone:teacher:

I'm so glad you got WL CL for Easter break at 20% off! I know how good it feels to get the resort you want at a discount. Those extra fees charged by CT are what kept me from booking when they were offering only 20% off as it was not that much different than my AAA discount total. However, the 25% made a bigger gap in the totals, so I went with CT. The only thing I'm somewhat concerned about is room requests -- I realize CT has to handle that and that worries me a bit. Tomorrow I'm going to call poly IPO to reserve a cabana (I have to call rather than email because they need credit card number to reserve cabana). Otherwise, everything else is set -- my girls were added with relative ease and I added magical express by calling ME directly. I'll post back on here after I have contact with IPO.

Just an FYI....that cheap tickets.com has the 25% off promo again CHEAP25. Book through 2/9 for travel through 6/30. This time the promo seems to be on ALL Disney resorts on the dates I checked.

The previous discount code, POP wasn't included in the promo, but this time it was and I was able to rebook our June trip and save an additional $270. :) I did book only 2 guests and called them to add the children. It was 8 or 10 minutes of holding while they contact disney to do it, but it shows up in MDE right away after that. You do also have to call disney direct if you are using Magical Express, but that's pretty painless to do as well. All in all it took me about 30 minutes of time to book through cheaptickets, call them to add kids, call disney to cancel with them and add magical express. It's like I made $540 an hour. :rotfl:

That's great. I hope others can benefit from the new code! It's certainly worth a little extra time to save that kind of money, isn't it? Thanks for sharing...:goodvibes

I was going to tell you about this promo in the AP thread, but didn't want you to get offended. : )

I'm glad you got to book, what did you end up going with?

Ha! Thanks for your help too! I was just trying to find the best deal, wherever it might be - and not having to buy an annual pass is even better. Staying at the beach club (unless I change my mind again) - only way I can get bf back to Disney is due to baseball Spring training!

Glad to see people are still saving. May end up rebooking for myself if the price changes enough

My parents were able to book at POR for 2 nights while we are there (we are staying 4 nights) for $50 less then we paid per night and use the 25% off code. Our dates aren't showing as available though so I can't rebook at the better rate. :headache:

Looks like the promo code doesn't work on WDW resorts anymore. I have been looking all week at these, and thought I had until 2/9 :(:(:(
A day late, and a dollar short. So disappointed.

It seems like you have to keep checking or just book it! I checked this morning using the cheap20 code and it worked. Just checking now with the cheap25 and that doesn't work and the cheap20 code doesn't work anymore either.

I actually booked a Little mermaid room last week, but was hoping to get the 25 off instead of 20. I guess I will keep checking!

Don't totally give up -- I've followed CT for about a month now debating on if I should book or not. Each week, I think on Monday, a new promo code has been released for either 20 or 25% off. I'm not sure why CHEAP25 isn't working now, though, usually the codes last all week until a new one starts. Sorry:sad1:
