Discount pin codes?

I was just curious how people receive the discount pin codes that they talk about on these boards. I haven't been to disney world in a couple years, and before reading these boards I had never heard of discount codes.

Also we are planning on going this fall for a week, are there any specials for that time yet or just for the first half of the year so far?

There are two types of PIN codes...the private (targeted) codes that people get in the mail...then the Public Codes, which are open to certain segment of the population. Private codes only work for the person that gets them, and no one really knows how to get on the list. Public codes are for AP holders, Visa card holders, and the general public. The current 7 for the price of 4 offer is essential one of these.

The best place to find codes (besides here in the resort board) is on mousesavers.com. the VERY best place to find a history of public codes is also there - follow this link.

Past public codes don't mean they'll happen again this year, but there is a good chance, especially in a down year, you'll see public discounts.

You can try to increase your chances of getting a private pincode by registering at Disneyworld.com and ordering the DVD.No guarantees though.I have been to WDW 21 times and never gotten a pincode, then 3 days ago I got a 40% code and because it was in the name of a deceased friend and not me they would not let me use it even though it came to my address.
