I like many am alwys hopeful for AP and/or other discounts for our WDW trips(are next 10/28-11/6) and fortunately have never been disapointed with our discount good fortune over our last 5 trips(since 2/01). So while I am discouraged about the seemingly lack of discounts for our upcoming trip, and have struggled with the prospect of paying rack, we are prepared to do so. Nonetheless, I remain hopeful of something happening this week.

My prediction: Buy 4 get 3 free(start date 10/4/05) Any other wishful thinkers, pessimisists or good old realists?

Mr. Smith...let me say...I feel your pain. I have my fingers crossed right along with you. Fortunately, there is a discount room only code available for my dates but I'm really holding out, hoping for something special...like free dining or resident package specials. How did the buy 4 get 3 free work? Did you have to buy it in conjunction with a package? What happened if your stay was only for six nights?.....or wait, was that a room or a ticket special? We did universal last year and disneyland the two years before that so I don't know alot about past specials. BUT...I am hoping for a good general public offer....everyone deserves a good deal (more to blow on other disneyana)! I'm optimistic...I seem to be taking everything as a sign of savings to come..lol

All along I was thinking we would get an extension on free dining. I thought the code would come out 9/4. Well, that day has come & gone. I would now be SHOCKED if there were any discounts received for those traveling Oct, Nov or Dec. Especially now that I hear someone received a postcard for a Jan/Feb 2006 value room @ $49. I think we have been skipped. :sad2:

We have a AAA room only for a standard at WL the first week of Dec. I have checked the Disney site often hoping to see rooms in all catagories available meaning maybe a discount or upgrade would be offered. The resort, though, seems full. There are no rooms on the weekends, and only courtyard and deluxes during the week.

Regrettfully, there is no reason for Disney to offer dicounts when the resorts are full. I'm glad I have the AAA--at least it's something.

Mr Smith I too feel your pain. While you have at least been able to avail yourself of discounts over the years and Disneyfreq is lucky enough to be a Florida resident....I am someone who lives 3000 miles away on the west coast who has not been to WDW in 6 years! And I choose Dec 2005 the gaping abyss of no Discounts in which to go to WDW :) I have now been planning our trip for over a year. I have read about every discount available to varying populations and I have waited with baited breath for the possibility of the discount tailor made for me...alas it is not coming and I think I might as well come to that sad realization. The hard part for me at this point is that it is really taking the joy out of planning the trip and part of me just wants to chuck the whole idea down the tubes but I already splurged on airfare and have told my children.
I will hope with you for something but I really think we are going to be the discountless ones (unless we get an AP).

to make you feel better. . .I (and many other DISers) are caught in that 3 week window of October 4- 26 where there are no BRP/AP discounts whatsoever. . .When the BRP came out it was 120 days and we missed it by 1 week on the front side of October... When they changed to 60 days out, we missed by a week on the latter of October. I called, I emailed (w/ a so sorry/tough luck response). I am glad I reserved only a value resort, because I couldn't afford rack rates for anything other. Oh well, my family will enjoy WDW just the same, just with less Disney Dollars!

Of course, take this with a grain of salt, but I talked to a CM a little while ago and he said there will not be any more discounts this year because with the 50th Celebration going on, they haven't needed to. That being said, AAA rates were still available at Value resorts for middle of October, November and December, so there must be plenty of rooms still available. :confused3

AAA is a good discount if you are unable to get a BRP. I know a lot of AP holders are unhappy with the changes that BRP has brought, but at least you
are still able to get some discounts.

I was a Magic Kingdom club {Later changed to Disney Club I think} member since the early 1980s. I was able to get tickets or vacation packages at a discount. Then when the Disney Stores opened I got 10% off every purchase at the store or through the catalog. I also went on a few of their cruises at the discounted rate. Then a few years ago they discontinued the club with just a couple of months notice.
Well, I did buy thousands of dollars of art and collectibles and gifts for my family and nieces and nephews.
I could say Disney promised me discounts and then took them all away or I could say WOW I am glad I was able to be a member of the Disney club while Disney offered it.
I choose to be thankful.

I feel the exact same way - took all the fun out of planning my own trip after a year of watching with anticipation and joy while others grabbed up discounts. I was a cheerleader for all who had the discount before us. I had it all down pat- then along came free dining - new concept, but I was willing to go for it. Then BRP, which cut my dates out completely (released within my 120 window), but still the "promise" of the old kind to come. And yes, I've read all the threads about how we're not entitled to these discounts, but when everyone else had been getting them, it seemed that if you just did your homework and put a little extra effort into it, you, too, could be rewarded.

Now, the joy of planning gone, I don't know what to do with myself for the next month. Don't get me wrong, the trip will be great, but the planning had become my hobby - :)
