Hey Everyone,

I tried finding this answer in past posts, but didn't see it anywhere. My df and I are in the beginning stages of planning our Disney Wedding for January 2013. All of a sudden, we are moving to Florida in the next month. Extremely Unexpected. :cool2:
I know that there are various discounts for other things, but is there a discount for Florida residents for having a dftw? If so, what is it and what does it cover?
If not, no big deal, because I am moving from a 2 hour plane ride away from Disney to a 2 hour drive away from Disney so I am definitely still happy :cloud9:

Thanks,

---Lindsay:yay:

Welcome to Florida!

I too am a Florida DFTW bride and am receiving discounts on the following:

10% off entertainment (ie: DJ)
10% off Food (Alcohol, Packaged Soda Bars, and Cake not included)
10% off Floral (I am bringing in my own, but it applies to linens through disney too)

If you use Disney for everything, you get an extra 5% off the Food. There may be discounts on the photography and videography, but I did not use them so I don't remember exactly.

It is a pretty good deal. Also another thing to know if you are paying close attention to your budget is... you have to meet your minimum and then the discounts will applied - therefore you could technically end up under your original minimum.

Not sure how long they will run this discount, but I think it has been a standby for a while.

Good luck with the move and the beginning planning stages!

WHAT? Why have I not heard about this discount?!?! Did your planner mention it to you or did you find the information on it somewhere else?

Woah I'm a FL resident and didn't realize we were eligible for discounts! Did your planner volunteer these to you or did you have to ask? Can I ask what you're paying for the DJ?

I get a 10% on stuff for military, but even if hubby wasn't military we'd qualify for the Florida discount.

Disney's DJ quote I got was 1500. With the discount it's 1350. (Which I guess is ok since they wanna charge $950 to bring in an outside DJ).

Also, if anyone is interested, it brings cinderella's coach's cost to 2565. The Floral moving fee goes from $150 to $125.

Hope this helps. I know being a bride with a strict budget I was extremely happy to hear about the discounts as it makes a big difference.

I currently live in DC but my fiance is a student and still has her FL liscence. can she still qualify for fl residency????...we got away with gettin fl resident discounts a while ago by usin her id last time we were in the world.

I'm not sure about the Disneyland discount, but it wouldn't hurt to check!
And yup, we got a list of discounts from our consultant Bill when we met with him. (Well, he emailed it to me after our meeting.)

I received a promotional flyer when I originally met with my sales consultant back in late 2009. I just made sure it went in to my contract when it was time to sign in 2010. Not sure if it can be added after the contract is signed though.

I asked...and my planner said she had no idea what I was talking about, and that there were no such discounts. I am getting a discount on the escape package because of the anniversary special, but that doesn't apply to my dessert party, or my MK/Epcot shoot. And that FL resident discount would definitely help with that! Oh well. It doesn't exist apparently!

After reading this I asked my consultant the same question-the answer I got was that because my wedding was in November there were no discounts available. Because October and November are their busiest months they are not able to offer anything like that. I'm bummed but ok with it, as I hadn't budgeted any kind of discount anyway. But I do think it's kind of funny that we're all getting different answers lol!

Wow, I already had my wedding but there was NEVER a mention of discounts for FL residents!? 10% off those things would have been a pretty significant amount of money for my wedding. I'm baffled!

I'm bothered by this. I can't do anything about it since my wedding has passed (and I wouldn't change a thing about my wedding bc it was amazing) but I feel like DFTWs dropped the ball here. This information should be readily available for all brides.

I'm glad this was brought up for future DFTWs brides so they are aware of possible discounts.
