Looking at an April for a 4 day Dream. I noticed there is a VGT on the date that I am looking at. Do they discount them more the closer is gets? Do they offer more options closer to the sail date? I realize that they may fill up and the opposite may happen too. Do they offer Military and resident discounts at the last minute?

Thanks for answering all my of silly questions. I guess I am not a person who can just "wing it".

The last minute restricted fares (IGT, OGT, VGT) are set. Lots of restrictions. It's DCLs way of filling up all those rooms before sailing. I believe that's the last chance offer.

I believe all discounts are "only one discount applies".

Could you please let me know what websites IGT,OGT, and VGT are or what they mean? :confused3 I see them listed all over the boards and I have no idea what they are! Thanks!

The last minute restricted fares are: Interior Guarantee (IGT), Oceanview Guarantee (OGT) and Verandah Gurarantee (VGT). You book whatever category you wish, say OGT. You are guraranteed that you will get an oceanview category room. It may be anywhere on the ship, but an oceanview. IGT gets you an interior room, VGT gets you a verandah. DCL gets to select which specific room you get, no changes, no requests.

EDIT: If you check the FAQ sticky above, there's a complete description of what the restricted fare requirements are.

I beleive the IGT, OGT and VGT fares are even cheaper than the Military discounts. If you want to go in April and see one of the VGT fares....book it. It won't get cheaper than that. Just make sure you can go on that date as there are many restrictions as listed below:

Also, the whole thread may be of help....it explains about these restricted fares and a good discussion about them.

Last-Minute Restricted Stateroom Discounts from DCL

In January 2011, Disney will begin offering a new way to save if you are flexible about your stateroom location and willing to book "last minute," meaning 21-75 days prior to departure.

When offered, new "Restricted" room categories be offered on select sailings at the discretion of Disney Cruise Line operations. If offered, here’s what you will see online:

Inside Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY IGT)

Oceanview Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY OGT)

Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions (GTY VGT)

These categories may provide a great rate if you are flexible with your stateroom location, but as the name suggests, they are heavily restricted, with a lot of rules.

Important details you need to know:

You will not be able to select a stateroom number or make special requests as to stateroom location. The stateroom is assigned at the discretion of Disney Cruise Line within a week of cruise departure. The only guarantee will be Inside, Outside or Verandah (based on the bookable category code listed).

Applies to new bookings only. Existing reservations cannot be modified to these new categories.

Full payment is due at time of booking. Booking holds are not permitted.

Reservation is non-refundable.

Reservation and applied payment are non-transferable.

Full legal names and birthdates for all stateroom occupants are required at time of booking.

Name changes after the reservation number is confirmed will not be permitted.

Sail date, stateroom category and cruise itinerary changes are not permitted once a reservation number is confirmed.

Not combinable with any discount or promotional offers, with the exception of $25 onboard credit for bookings made online and Disney Visa benefits.

The “Verandah Stateroom with Restrictions” category allows for a maximum of four stateroom occupants.

Restrictions and booking rules are subject to change.

Well, you'll never know what is going to happen. But we booked a 3 day Dream cruise in May just about 2 weeks ago in a VGT and as of today that's not available anymore and the cheapest Veranda Stateroom is about $400 over what we paid.
So, if the price is ok for you I would go ahead and book it. If it's still over your budget and you are ok with not going at all... wait.
