I need some help. I read yesterday on another thread that someone had recommended discount dining instead of the dining plan. What is discount dining and where do you get it at?

If you are an annual passholder (out of state or florida resident) you can purchase what is called the Disney Dining Experience Card, which entitles you and I think up to 5 other guests, it entitles you to 20% off Food and Beverages (including alcohol). it does end up also putting an auto tip of 18% on the bill, but thats pretty much standard fare, regardless now.

Thanks for the reply. I called about getting an annual pass since we are going twice in one year and the cast member said that they now have a dining plan for passholders. Is this it?

Uhm, that is a new one on me, I am not sure about that....maybe someone else?

I'll also do a little research online and see what I can find out about it for you.

OK....check this out....looks like you CAN add the dining plan now as an Annual Passholder.

Annual Passholder - Dining Plan

I think what the CM might be referring to, is that there is a current promotion for AP that gives a 30% discount on the dining plan. BUt I believe it is for rack rates for the room, and the 30% discount on the dining plan.

I called Disney and they are offering annual pass holders the disney dining plan until 12/31/08. I did not check on the price. The cast member told me that it had not been announced if this would be extended into 2009.

Not quite! I have an AP discount on my room for my May trip. I was able to purchase the DDP (at full price) for my stay without having to buy a one day ticket.

In the past the only way for an AP holder to get the DDP was to pay rack rate for the room and buy a one day MYW ticket. We don't get any kind of discount on the DDP, but we can now get the AP room discount and not have to buy a one day ticket. What the 30% refers to is that anyone who purchases the DDP can save up to 30% off what they would have paid OOP, if they use the DDP.
