Discount Codes?

I am fairly new to this board and have some questions regarding the discount codes. First we are traveling to WDW in early Dec (the 3rd through the 11th, I think). It will be my DH, two DD's (ages 3 & 8), my parents, my brother, and myself. We are planning on staying at a moderate resort and the code discounts that just came out for Sept. are great! I would really like to get on something similar.

So here, are my questions. Are there usually discount codes for early December? Also, if we go ahead and make reservations, can we call and change them when Dec codes come out?

Thanks for all your help. These boards have been so helpful in planning things!

I've never gone in December, but I bet it's great! As far as historical codes, go check out mousesavers.com. If you haven't been there yet it is well worth the visit! Also, sign up for her newsletter while you are there. Anyway, I believe that Mary has a listing of historical codes showing when they were issued, and the amount of the discount.

Regarding your question about making reservations now. I would book them now with any discount you can get, I often use AAA rates at first (if eligible), then once discount codes are issued call back and have them applied to the existing reservation. I've done this more times than I can count....and I'm an Accountant!!!

And finally, welcome to the DIS. It's a great group of people!

My exact question as well! I'm going early December and I'll be hunting for those dicsount codes as well. Where exactly on mousesavers.com is this historical information? I could not find it on my own. Thank you.

Hey, don't forget - we have awesome discount information right HERE on the DIS!

Christina, I'm also new to the DISboard and credit it with my current low nightly rate for an 8 night WL stay in Sept. One thing I'd suggest if you haven't been to WDW before or recently is to request the vacation planning kit (VPK). You'll do so not so much for that kit (which is OK but I like the guidebooks I've read much better) but on the chance that you might get an emailed discount offer as a result... which happened to me. That discount was about 25% off rack rates so I took it in case I didn't get the room-only code in time (but did so and saved about 15% more). It was very easy to change my existing reservation.

I don't think everyone requesting the VPK gets a discount offer but it was so simple to do and definitely worth the time on the chance you can save some money.

Last December, moderates were $79 plus tax with AP rates (standard). I don't believe there were codes.
