Great job on the bows. I have finally located the alligator clips in this town. The bad part is that I have to go to the bad part of town to get them. I asked a lady last night (she was wearing them to hold her curlers in :) ) where she got hers and she told me downtown. So I have to make a trip downtown.

I also had to make a trip to the "bad" side of town for hair accessories. My DD needed cheer hair and the only place that carries it (not online) is in a horrible part of town. As soon as I walked in the door the guy at the counter looked at me and said "flip pony tail?" :lmao: I guess I looked out of place. :confused3

I'm in need of this pattern

I know that farbermix has one (Anna), but I'm not goodhttp://i204.photobucket.com/album with having to trace and add seam allowance. Does anyone know if this style is available from a big 4?
It is butterick 5019 I believe. I made this for Katie last year and it was in a 3t so I am sure it goes up to a size 4. It was really easy and soooo cute. Good luck!
Yay! I am glad you found them and made it back safely.

I got my thread and finally finished my project. This is for someone who is going to AK Sunday. She has a little girl and boy.

The animal kingdom dress is super cute. We are not going to AK when we are at Disney in March. I just want to go so I can make Katie something animal print to wear. Logical right???

Wow!!! You lucky ducky!!! I have been looking for that pink for a loooonnnngggg time - would love any of the ones you found!! Im going tonight - hopefully something will be there - the Wilmington, DE JoAnn's usually has a terrible selection of Disney Fabrics - were these fabrics new in the store or had they been there for a while??

Ours doesn't have a big selection and most seems to be flannel. These have been at the store for awhile now but they rarely have them discounted... and I almost always need to use my 40% coupon for something work related. :sad1:

if i want to put a layer of tulle under a dress, how do you know how much to use? Same measurement wide as the dress fabric, or do you like double it? I want to try this soooooooo badly!!!

Do you want to have the tulle puff out the dress a lot or just be another layer? For the latter, I'd probably do a double or triple layer and make it 2 times the length of the fabric it's attached to. If I wanted to add more volume/pouf, I'd do 3-4 times the length.

Sounds very reasonable to me. ;) Maybe you could plan on a visit to AKL for a meal... and a good excuse for an animal print outfit.

I just got back from Walmart. I picked up the last 7 panels of the Ariel that I made the peasant top and matching jeans out of, if anyone is interested please let me know, I probably only need two, so that would leave 5 out that I could trade or send out. I'm looking for about 1 1/2 yards of the pink Hannah Montana (I'm sure everyone is) cotton to make a skirt for DD out of it. She's been begging and our Walmart was sold out.

If anyone is interested PM me.

Are you all sewing for the 3 day weekend!!!!
i have to finish Camden's b_day outfit before sun:scared1: it is his 5th b-day and he picked the fabric out and that is all he wants ... I have the pattern cut just gotta get my boootttyyy in gear.......:confused3
but 1st i am gonna probably clean up my house it is driving me CRAZZZZZYYYY,( i think it is a lil of cabin fever) i am so through with the cold and snow.....

I finally went downtown to get the alligator clips. I bought four packs so hopefully I won't have to go there again for awhile. I had a city bus behind me who kept getting way too close to the back of my car.

I also went to Hobby Lobby and got some more ribbon. While I was in there I found these really cute flowers and butterflies for DD's room. I will have to post pics because they are too cute.
wow that sounds scary i am glad you got your stuff though..

Yay! I am glad you found them and made it back safely.

What a great idea :) I think I will have to look into that. We are having dinner at 1900 PF, going to MK for a day and then there are the cheer leading customs.... What is one more???

BTW- I am going to send you a PM about the shirt. I am now thinking Minnie. :upsidedow Maybe both??? Before this thread I would have just went to Gymboree and bought all of the outfits I wanted her to have for a trip. Now it is just not that simple. So many choices and to few days at Disney.

It's pretty sad when you have schedule your vacation around what customs you want to make, isn't it? :rotfl: :rotfl: I'm guessing we've all got a sickness of some kind. Hi, I'm Shannon. I'm a customaholic! Hi, Shannon! :rotfl:

Anastasia turned 7 on tuesday and she got the fabulous sewing machine from target. just took it out of the box and it works great. have it all ready for her when she gets home from dance tonight. She got a ton of other items too, but loves the machine.
Anyways I am going to start her on a pillowcase first. can't be bad, anything else anyone can recommend for a first timer that is 7. no patterns please.
also when I tested it, it is a little slow but a good little machine for $25.
oh and she went to grandmas today (no school) - and my mom has a fabulous collection of fabric - I should know I bought most of it! When she was heavy into sewing I would buy the fabric and she would sew it. Well she has not sewed in at least 2 years, but getting the fabric back is not going to happen I guess. she wants to keep it for a what if time. yeah right. well she let anastasia pick out whatever she wanted! :scared1: :scared1: (I needed a double) what does shecome home with - $20 a yard fabri, $10 a yard fabric - NO she came home with $.99 a yard lightweight flannel for making pj's. ok, so the girl needs some help, but it did have hearts on the two pieces so she thought it was cute.

ideas please.
Lori

The first thing I remember making mostly by myself was a straight skirt. Basically a tube with a hem and a casing for elastic. :) It's not much different than a pillowcase. Heck, if she's going to do a pillowcase, why not have her try a pillowcase dress/top next?

Ok I have the same problem. Last night I went into Wal-mart to get some things and some how I walked out of there with 6 yards of multi colored star flannel. It was on sale for $2 a yard.

The first thing that I made in home ec was a pin cushion and then a heart pillow and then a bear pillow. They were super easy just two peices each (a front and a back).

I bought Riley some plain colored cards and she has used the machine she got for Christmas to make some really cute cards to give out! Her machine has quite a few decorative stitches (I think it's the brother 600) and she does some pretty lettering and then a row of something fancy. She really enjoys it and it lets her use the fancy stuff on her machine.

The first thing I did was take a sharpy and make lines on paper for her to "sew" without the thread. I remembered doing this in 6th grade home ec. The first lines were straight, then the next set had angle, then the next had curves and the last had the lines spiraled into a circle. She had a really good time with it and it got her comfortable with the different speeds. I think she even took the straight lines and zig zagged over them and tried NOT to get the holes on the line.

I think that would be perfect!!!!!! Great idea

I sure hope I can find the lime green with the swirls when I go tomorrow. I would love to make a Pillowcase like seat cover and cushion for my personal ECV. It would really make it both Dis and Disney!!!

Last summer when I went to LTT for dinner, I parked and used my crutches to get into the restaurant because of the crowds. When I came out 3 children were climbing all over the ECV (and jumping off the seat) and the parents were just watching. Their reply when I asked them to get their children off so I could leave--"Oh, I didn't know it belonged to someone." It is a small blue 3-wheeler and doesn't look anything like a rental -- and even a rental "belongs" to someone -- they're not parked as play equipment!!!

This will probably be another halter top for Zoe with white accents and

I certainly would be since I could really erase wrinkles, cellulite, hips, etc. ;)

Well, here's what I've been working on frantically to get it out today. I was so happy I got it done with plenty of time for photos.

BEST of luck!!!

Makes perfect sense to me!!

The first thing that I made in home ec was a pin cushion and then a heart pillow and then a bear pillow. They were super easy just two peices each (a front and a back).

The first thing we made in home ec was a button down shirt with a collar, sleeves and some gathering on the top. It turned out really cute, mine was white with little bitty strawberries on it, an strawberry buttons. After I made it in class that week, I went home that weekend and whipped up another one!

You know what??? I actually might do this for me :rolleyes1 I know I did a bit of sewing at school but it was only for a few weeks and I remember that I would have rather been elsewhere. I don't remember learning anything useful. This might help with my sewing skills lol :)

Those are adorable!

OOOH - those are adorable! Those kids are going to be thrilled!

That is so cute.

Great outfits!

Those are both very cute! They'll be a great hit at AK for sure!

Thank you so much for your comments. I think it was Heather who said that it meant so much coming from fellow sewers!

I always have to drag my husband there, but once we get there the kids have the most fun. I think we dread all the walking but there is so much to do there.

those are so cute! what a great job you did :thumbsup2 what lucky boy and girl..

LOL! She seemed thrilled when I told her how much and that I was throwing in the bows for free. She might not be so thrilled when she sees the bows close up!

How much fun you two will have! The first thing I made was a jumper.

I can't believe people! If you make a seat cover, that might attract more kids!

Oh those are darling!!! I love them!!

Thank you!

Oh, those are just adorable!!!! I need to get busy on Lydia's AK outfit! I have it all planned out in my head, I just need to get it done!

I actually let her go "shopping" in our photobucket account. I linked her to the AK outfits and told her to pick out something. Fortunately for me, she didn't pick out anything too hard for me to make!

When I took home ec in 7th or 8th grade I made an apron with a letter "L" embroidered on the pocket. Also where can I find the pattern for the pillowcase dress/top? DD2 is probably too small now for it but it will be nice to have when she's ready. We're going to WDW in Nov 2009 and I figure I can start planning this winter what to make her for the trip. It's never TOO early to start planning her wardrobe right?

I so remember doing this in 7th-8th grade in home ec class. Brings back a lot of memories. I wish I just stuck with it. I did continue to do some things, I loved to cross stitch as a kid and of course still do but I also knit. I got a sewing machine for Christmas and I'm starting class this Tuesday on how to use my machine, thread it etc and different foots and what they are used for. It came free with the purchase of a machine. Then for a year I get a sewing club membership which meets once a month for a 12 months for free. They complete a small sewing project each month. So I'm very excited to join you soon. Everything looks so great. I can't wait to start sharing.
