I need potty training pixie dust! We started yesterday going cold-turkey on the diapers (except for naps and bedtime). We have had NO successes! She has pooped in her pants twice and peeped at least 8 times in her pants. Please don't tell me she is not old enough - she is 2 3/4!

This is just so frustrating for me. I am trying to keep my cool but I am tired of washing out panties all day. I am trying to have her sit on the potty every 30 minutes (the timer is set) but that is not working either. She just goes a few mintues after we get up.

I'm not sure how much I'll get on today - we leave for WDW in the morning!! Whoohoo!! Anyway, I wanted to thank everyone for all of the inspiration, encouragement and friendship along the way! Thanks for talking me through the basics of sewing, appliqueing and teaching me that the seam ripper is my friend!! If it weren't for the Dis this vacation would be a whole lot different and I am sooo happy I found you all! Thanks everyone, you guys are awesome!

Well, I know you said not to say this, but it sounds like she just isn't ready!:scared: I know you probably don't want to hear that, but I have alot of friends with kids a little older than my daughter and they all went through everything imaginable with potty training, and told me just to save myself the headache and wait until she was ready! And that's what I did! I put diapers on her until one morning she woke up and told me she did not want to wear diapers anymore and that was that! No accidents, no more diapers! Feel free to want to strangle me now!:rotfl:

I hear those stories all the time and want to scream. She showed all the signs of being ready - telling me when her diaper was wet/dirty, putting her dollies on the potty to go. Now she won't tell me when her pants are soaking.:confused3

I feel like a failure as a mother if I am unable to train her in this. She is signed up for preschool but cannot go until she is trained.

Has she shown any interest in the potty prior to today? We went cold turkey with diapers for both of my children (DS much later than DD) but they both had also been using the potty on and off for a month of 2 prior to going cold turkey.
I think they have to understand what the urges feel like before they will really get it. pixiedust: to both of you!!

I thought maybe you'd like to see a closer photo of my decoupage capris.

LOVE these! This may inspire me to make a pair for myself!

Mindy - I mailed your tee earlier this week. Send me a pm so I know you got it. I hope to be able to catch up on the thread when we get back but you guys are so chatty I shutter to think of how many pages I'll need to read! There will probably be a new thread started by then!!

Here is my latest. Drew has been asking for this since I mentioned that I might do it (probably last summer) so I rushed through it. I am not crazy about it and I think I learned something important about myself....... I don't enjoy appliqeing. It's just not fun for me. I'm sticking to construction from now on.

And on another note......I'm going to get a serger!!! Anyone have any low priced options for me? I'm thinking of this one http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product.do?product_id=1723621 but I will say that I'm scared of threading it!!! :scared1:

I have that one, I got it for Christmas. I am embarrassed to say it is still in the box.

Your assessment of the pattern is the same as mine. It isn't cut for a big bust and is narrow at the hips. You look much better in yours that I did in mine :lmao:

The bust thing was no problem since I am not, er, well-endowed, but I would have liked a few extra inches over the hips. Also, when I took it off last night, it left red marks on my armpits from the bias tape!

Cute cute cute! I love the mickey head and mickey button. I might have to CASE this for our spring break trip.

Um, I rarely get involved in these questions but this is what I did. Take your almost-three year old to the Disney store (or his/her favorite store). Tell the child you will buy anything in the store if they wear big-kid underwear. Wait. Wait some more. After about a week if the child says they have an interest in the $40 Cinderella dress, go with it. After child wears underwear for one day, take the child to the Disney store and buy the dress. That's what worked for me!

Seriously, good luck! I had to bribe both almost-three year old kids to use the potty. At the time, I felt like a big fat failure of a mom, but now I laugh at the thought of both of them extorting me!

I hope you have a wonderful trip! I know you will get lots of attention!

I need to join the weight watching party. I have never had a problem with my weight, but at my last doctor's appointment I realized I have gained 10 pounds in a year! I need to lose at least five so I can get back into my summer shorts again. I think I am going to try to cut out junk and alcohol first. I am not a big drinker, but we have been hanging with a couple and I have been having a few drinks each night we go out.

Wow, it is adorable! I'm sorry it wasn't fun, but it is truly cute and I am sure Drew will love it. How did you do the flowers?

Thanks! She is excited because when we scratch her back it will be really easy! She loves to have her back scratched "open" right on the skin.

I used the flower shaped yo-yo maker for the flowers. I'll probably have to handwash this one, or replace the yo-yo's a lot.

You are trying your best, and yes those are typical signs.

She really may not be fully ready. What I found was easiest at first was having my sons go naked on the bottom half for a few days when we were home. That worked better for them and me.

Much luck to you.

My first was a breeze. No accidents ever--even at night.

My second has the day down, but it took alot longer. He is not ready for night training, though.

Just don't push because you and she will both get frustrated.

WOW! I missed these before, but had to go back so I could quote them. I love the Mickey heads!

:yay: :cool1:  Have a wonderful trip!! I have to say it's been equally fun watching you create all your adorable outfits. :thumbsup2

I think it's adorable!! I know what you mean about the applique. I don't really like it either, but I love the results, so I just try not to do big projects. I love the flowers on this outfit. I remember making something like that as a kid and I want to call them pom poms? Anyway, can you tell us how you made them?

Yo, Yos, that it!

Hugs to you! Our little one will be 3 in April. We are potty training as well. Sadly it was her idea (a friend of ours is potty training too). She was doing really well in the beginning. Course that was in the beginning. We will not talk about how many times in the last few days the kiddo has gone commando because she has peed or pooped through all her panties and plastic pants. FYI I didn't think there was anything worse than cleaning poop out of panites ... I was wrong when they just have leggings on it is MUCH  worse lol.
