The time has come for the much anticipated Doodlebops concert. We leave tomorrow. My DD has been very excited. I promised her that I would make her a skirt. I had the embroidered panels done a week ago. I've been sick for two weeks, the last 3 days have been very, very bad. We also had a death that we had do deal with so that cut into some sewing time. This isn't my best work by any means. But I'm sure my DD will love it, and I was able to get it done, which is the most important thing at this point.

The DeeDee panel is the front.

Obviously, I need to come up with a top. I'm gonna check the weather to see if I can alter a short sleeve t-shirt. Whatever I do, it's gonna have to be easy and quick. Any ideas?

That is really cute! Did you do the embroidery? Target has some little hoodies in the girls dept. You could get a red one and embroider something on it. I like the idea of appliqueing Doodlebops too, but that is a lot of letters!

Shannon!
I wish I had known! I bought Morgan an iron on decal a while ago of the Doodlebops and never used it. I could have sent it to you! When we went ( 2 years in a row) I made her the "Dee Dee" dress. How about a tee with "doodlebops" appliqued to it?

My first thought was that I wanted to find the font for the Doodlebops and applique it. That was a month ago when we bought the tickets. I should have said something earlier, but honestly, this has just kinda snuck up on me. I knew it was coming, and I kept thinking that I would get on this when I felt better, and that just just hasn't happened. We're going regardless. I've had antibiotics in me for 24 hours and I can feel some difference already, so I'm really hoping that by this time tomorrow, I'll be much better.

SO, after I posted the pics, I went and dug around in the closet and come up with this. I know it's not completely boutique, but I just don't have it in me to make a top tonight. Do you think it's gonna work?

I did do the embroidery. The only thing about embroidering on shirts right now for me is that I think you're supposed to back the embroider with something so that it's not itchy. I know AbbyGrace would be really fussy if it was on her skin. So I don't know if that's gonna work. I need to get some of that backing stuff.

The Luke:

(yes, that is drool on the sheet, and no, I did not paint those walls! They were like that when we moved in and I took this photo before the room got re-painted)

Riley wanted me to make something for Drew to wear to her basketball games. Riley also wanted me to tell you that Drew doesn't tuck the shirt in all dorky like that and that I just did that so the words showed up in the picture!

Drew calls this her cheerleader outfit. I didn't want to do all of the pleats of a cheerleader skirt so I cheated and told her that cheerleaders sometimes wear skirts like this!:rolleyes1

Adorable!!! Before I got into sewing like I am now, I made Parker a pair of ribbon capri's and a matching baseball hairbow with the team colors for her to wear to Michael's t-ball games. She was quite the doll!

I think this is really cute! If you wanted, do you have any ribbon that you could just make her a ribbon shirt for it?

I think the red tee looks fine. Don't stress yourself out. Go get some rest so you can enjoy the concert. :grouphug:

Now that is TIRED!

Okay, got my camera battery charged. Here are my Minnie Head panels, there are 2 different poses and I threw a dinner plate in there to show you the size. If I don't mess up my applique too much I should have a few of these Minnie Heads to give away in a few days.

IMG_0886.jpg

Here is what I am doing with one. I found a pattern with a slightly larger bodice than the stripwork jumper. I traced the pattern piece on my heat-n-bond then ironed it on to Minnie then trimmed her out using the pattern piece for some of the borders. I still need to cut out the actual bodice and put it on that. I will probably use the purple fabric in the background (and for the rest of the bodice), but not 100% sure yet. I didn't want the bow to be the only pink thing in there so I used a purple fabric marker to change the bow from pink to purple, but I doubt that it will show much once seams are sewn and the shoulder straps flap over the top. The skirt will be the floral mickey/minnie fabric. Not sure how it will turn out, but DD LOVES Minnie so she won't complain

IMG_0880.jpg

BTW for those of you w/this fabric, it also looks really cute with denim.

Ok I am going abck and reading. My you ladies have been busy today while I was gone! I had to go to Dallas to take DS to Scottish Rite and get his new braces and I passed a Jo Anns! I was so excited! I didn't have much time so I was limited to what I got. And nothing was onsale blah. I am sure everyone has already seen these but they were new to me. :)

sewing035.jpg

Tink and blue hearts that looks like her wings put together. No clue what I am going to be doing with it but I liked it.

sewing037.jpg
DD has said she wants something Jess like so I have been looking for boy material to match for MGM.

sewing038.jpg
And I KNOW everyone has seen this but I was so excited to get it! DD found it online about a year ago and begged for it. I could not find it anywhere but I did today and got 4 yards! I am going to do one of the cirlcle skirts with tulle under it and pirate shirt with a corset to wear for MK next Dec. She will wear leggings under. I know ambitious considering I do not sew really yet ... but I have faith. :)

I haven't seen those top two fabrics -- they are super cute!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the jean jacket is cute. If you don't feel well, I would just leave it alone. If you feel a little ambitious you could add a ruffle to the jean jacket at the waist and the cuffs. I have done this before and then taken it off after and the jacket is good as new.

I have been fluish for about 10 days now so I know how you feel. I feel like a total loser because my house is a wreck and I honestly haven't cared what my kids have had for dinner for over a week. They have watched too much t.v. and eaten too much junk food! But I was able to take it easy. It happens and it will pass. Just rest tomorrow so you can enjoy the concert!

Can't wait to see your finished product -- I bet it is gonna be cute!!!

Where is Heather and Teresa? I don't think they have been on here all day!

Come out, come out, where ever you are!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love this and I don't think I have ever seen it! I would love to find some of that. You could match a lot of really cute colors with that.

I've been wondering the same thing. Tereas better watch out or she'll be ousted from the top poster spot! :scared1:

Is this flannel? I'm looking for some boy flannel and this is cute.

Ok this is what I have been up to tonight. This is the skirt and shirt that I made out of my $0.01 panel. I bought the last of the cream lace and it wasn't enough to go around the skirt. So I just used some that I had on hand.

This is DD's Valentine's dress that she wanted. I just bought the shirt cause I didn't want to deal with a bodice tonight.

Ignore the McDonald's cup in the background. That is DH's.
Very pretty! And very fast!

It's a very simple sundress pattern from some old magazine that my Mom cut out. It was my first try so it was a learning experience! I learned that I will use velcro on the back instead of sewing tiny snaps on everything!

th_BarbieDress.jpg
I think I still have the bodice of a Barbie outfit I started making when I was a little girl! It was so tiny, I gave up! Good job!!
:scared1: :scared1: :scared1:
Teresajoy! Jord is a GIRL!!!!! :lmao: :lmao:

We took this pic for you!

Candycanejord.jpg

(Not that you can see Morgan's outfit-but that doesn't matter when Jord is in the pic right? :rotfl: )
Ok I SWEAR I know that Jord is a girl!!! I even remember thinking "type her" while I was writing that! I think someone logged into my account and changed my post!!!! Please apologize to Jord for me! She is a beautiful girl!

Thanks for the picture! I love seeing Jord and Morgan!
Morgan got a kick out of all the "signature" poses and asked me if I had shown hers (which I don't think I have  ) But here is the "Morgan":

th_Morganpose.jpg

Morgan is just GORGEOUS!!!! I love that outfit! And, the pose is precious!
