Okay, here are a few pictures from our trip this past September. I made these simple little pants which were really comfy for my little one. They were perfect when we ended up at the GF beach one afternoon. We were just going to check out the hotel but then decided we needed to go down to the water. My dd loved playing in the sand and we stayed until it got dark and the rain hit

Here is my sweet little one with my beautiful Mother. I loved that the three of us were able to take this trip together. It was such a special trip & one I will cherish forever.

:dance3: OMG that would be awesome! I would love to see what you make with that? Do you have a picture of the Minnie head panels, I would love to see what they look like.

Grrrr, just got everything laid out to take photos and my camera battery is dead. I'll take some photos in a couple of hours.

Ok, I sewed my first outfit for myself! :lmao: Actually, it only required one straight seam down the back as it came off the bolt like this. You just buy two inches more than across the chest. I was looking for anything with animal print and ran across this. They had about 4 or 5 other types. They also had shorter ones for little girls.

Becky, DD19, says that I have to have straps (and I agree - the disadvantage of not having much on top). I haven't decided whether I'm brave enough to wear it to Animal Kingdom or whether it will be my swimsuit cover for the pool and water parks.

Now for the question: What do I do for straps. The bottom doesn't need to be hemmed because it is a finished edge. However, I can cut some off the bottom to make the straps and then hem it. Or is there something else that I could do for straps?

This is super cute. I can see a world of possibilities with this. If you wanted to make straps for it, you could cut it off and make a shorter dress OR you could cut more off the bottom and make it like a top to pair it with some black shorts. Then you would have enough material to make something else with it too!

LOL....don't ya just hate when that happens!!!! No worries, looking forward to seeing the pictures!

Oh, I like that idea. I'll have to seriously consider that. I'd be more comfortable having it be a top. I'm not a dress kind of a person usually.

I saw the same type of fabric, but in a tropical pattern. I think I'm going to use it to make my niece and I shirts for 'Ohana. I'm planning to use coordinating ribbon for the straps.

Oh my word! I went to Phillip Macgruder Middle school-right up the road from Del Amo mall. We lived on W 187th (I think).

Wow...small world, huh? Del Amo Mall is huge!! Unless I was at school, I pretty much stuck close to the beach!!!;)

Ladies, I believe the official name is the Del Amo Fashion Center :rotfl: . Which was a big joke because it just had the same stores as the other malls, just 2 of them, 1 at each end of the giagantic monster mall.
My oldest DD was born at Torrance Memorial Medical Center.

I will post pictures that are related to this thread later tonight, off to DD dance class.

My mom buys lots of her "material" at Goodwill and St. Vincents. She has bought sheets, blankets, and large adult clothes (which she cuts up for smaller items). She has gotten some neat stuff at very good prices.
I do this too. If I need a certain fabric and can't find it new I look for big people's clothes and chop them up. Sometimes I use some of my old clothes if I like the fabric.

That is cute and it looks good on you. Wal-Mart has a really cute animal print ribbon that would make great tie straps.

AHHH! I love these dresses! Love the animal print!!!!

ACTUALLY, this was the first project I did too...I then progressed to Aurora within 10 outfits. I made sure to challenge myself each time. Now I'm a professional bridal seamstress (NOT) but really, I think I can do any beginner/intermediate pattern. :3dglasses

I had a dress like this when I was a youngish girl and had a "wardrobe malfunction" so be careful (wink)

I remember your Aurora dress! I would call that much more difficult than beginner/intermediate! That's the trick though. Just keep getting patterns that are slightly more complicated than the last. Before you know it you will be making wedding dresses.

I think the portrait peasant top is a better fit than the dainty designs one. The armholes in that one were way too tight on Lydia, and it was much too short.

That is cute fabric!!!

Is your daughter going to donate her hair again? Arminda did that when she was in 1st grade, and she keeps talking about doing it again, but then she wants me to cut it! It went from really long to really short in about two seconds the first time she donated it! :sad1:

I am going to have to try that - I noticed the armholes too. I'm not sure if she plans to donate again - It is so hard to say what her "mood" will be then - LOL! I had a hard time letting go of Emma's hari both time so I know what you mean. What sweet girls we have!

That is MUCH better!!! That is really cute!!!
Happy Birthday :goodvibes

Thanks!

IThis is too adorable.

Thank you :)

This is DD's Valentine's dress that she wanted. I just bought the shirt cause I didn't want to deal with a bodice tonight.

Love this V-day dress! SO Cute!

I
Lori ~ Emma seems to love the birthday dress. It's really cute. And her hair is really growing fast! I wish mine would. Happy Birthday Emma!

I've been sewing and seam ripping my Tinker Bell & Aurora dresses. I hope I get these done soon!
Thanks! Can't wait to see the dresses!

Lori, that's way too cute! And, just for the record, I hate that DD peasant top pattern!!!!!!
Thank you! Yea - it wasn't the best - I think I will have to try the other one next.

I love it! I have that purple fabric in a Strawberry Shortcake strip skirt. It looks really pretty with the green. Megan is long-waisted and long-armed so I have a horrible time trying to adjust patterns to fit her. I usually try to add a few inches and hope for the best. I wish there was a trick for getting it perfect every time (well, there might be but I don't know about it). I think the sleeves look long enough, so you did something right!
Thanks! Well - as far as the sleeves. Since I had to add after the sleeves were cut and sewn into the body - I decided to put the elastic there to hide the seam. It worked out good!

I love the outfit and the "look".
oh that peasant top pattern is not the best.
lori
Yup - I thought the look summed it all up!

I love the Birthday Dress. Why don't they have fabric like that at my JoAnn's:confused3 That Fabric is SO CUTE!

Thanks! DD fell in love with it when she saw it.

Morgan got a kick out of all the "signature" poses and asked me if I had shown hers (which I don't think I have  ) But here is the "Morgan":

Oh - how stinkin' ADORABLE!!!

:rotfl2: LOL on the correct name!!! Thanks for setting us straight!!! (I remember walking that HUGE mall, er I mean Fashion Center with my Mom looking for my prom dress. Hahaha

I keep trying to do something a bit challenging with each outfit. Except for when it comes to zippers. I'm scared to death of those things! I'm too scared to even try! Don't know why, I just am!

I'm so jealous, my kids need a signature pose!!

OMG :rotfl2: :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: I remember when that happened, that was and still is extremely hilarious!!!!!!! I didn't mean to delete Emily, I got carried away with the backspace button!!!! I also like the one of her looking back over her shoulder, but this is funny.

Jasmine taking her "goosing" like a pro:

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: That's great!

I love it Steph!

Darn that dog! He gets into every picture! I didn't see in through the window of the house until now, lol!

I had to go back and look three times before I saw what you were talking about!

Ok, here's the Emma... I have no idea where this came from, but she does it all the time!
