I was at a second hand store that my friend suggested. Usually I can't stand them, and stay far away, because of the smell. Long story...but I hate that musty moldy attic smell....ick
Anyhow I found something that doesn't fit my dd but had to have...

I just thought it was the funniest thing. I was laughing in the store and people were looking at me..LOL.
I will have to list it because it is way to small, but I just thought it was a total riot...it would definately stand out against all of those plain ponchos.

That is too cute!

OK so I wanted to share my second of 6 peasant tops. I dont like how the bottom ruffle turned out. I used my ruffler but instead of setting it for once every 3 stitches, I should have set it to once every stitch. I am considering redoing it. I also didnt shir the sleeves yet on either top. So here is the newest and then both together:

My applique ran into the top too Steph since its so big!

I also found a twin sheet set at Ross's which is a Barbie fairy princess. I am going to use the pillowcase for the applique and the sheets for the dress. I have to find a good pattern for it but I will easily get two dresses out of it for $14!!!!

Here are some snow pics from the other night! We got all of 3 inches!!!!:woohoo:

I'm posting a quick sneak peek at the custom Gracie is going to wear to the Princess Tea party in March.

The colors are actually lighter & brighter. She will wear this over a light pink pettiskirt.

Is the bodice on this Velvet? It looks so pretty.

Love the shirts. Are they made from Pillowcases or Sheets? I envy the snow pics. It snowed here about a week and a half ago, but only for like 30 minutes and then after that it rained til today. One of our not so smart neighbors pulled a truck pulling a Uhaul trailer into the little bit of grass in front of our apartment. Deep ruts in the ground now. All the grass is gone because of the neighbors. It's Louisiana people. If it rains for a week the ground will be wet and muddy on the day that it stops. Rant over.

These are the KMart pillowcases. I bought three but each one has two pics so I can make 6 total. Plus I have the barbie one too.
Yikes about the snow/rain mess. Perhaps it can be smoothed out and it will regrow???? :rolleyes1

Okay, I'm going to buy some sheets...that is just too clever! SUPER cute!!

JHAM!!!!!! Months of tireless planning and exhaustive sewing PAID OFF BIG!!!! Your kids looked Fab. Lily's Cinderella outfit is PERFECT. I have got to get that pant pattern!!! You did a wonderful job and it looks like you had a great time too!

Steph - I think the peasant top looks ok. But Just so you know, if you don't like it you can take the applique off and redo it. I had to do this with one of DD's shirts and there were no holes or rips in the shirt. If there are little holes (tiny holes from the thread) throw it in the wash, they should shrink up. It was on a tee shirt when I did it so that might make a diffeerence.

Now back to crocs - I've got just one more question - do your feet not get all wet and rub??? are they not rubbery plasticy stuff???

I've found where they sell them in NZ but they don't do the Alice ones which I think are probably the nicest looking - I'll email them and see if they are getting any in.

Oh and I learn't something new.....Jibbitz :) I'd never heard of them before so had to do a search so I wasn't out of the loop lol :)

This is what I did yesterday. It is size 3t but I tried it on Megan just to see how the mickey head looked. I can't believe I put it too high. I guess I didn't judge how much room the casing for the neck elastic would take. Does it look bad? The bottom is not finished because I ran out of minnie dot and I am getting some more to put a ruffle on. Be honest!

th_100_2198.jpg
I don't think it looks bad. I think on a three year old, it will look lower. Like someone else said, you could put the elastic in the top casing instad.

But, more importantly, was Megan crying??? What did you do to my cyber-neice???
Ok, I know this is going to sound bad but I am finally getting around to uploading some pics to show you guys our THANKSGIVING trip!!!:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: We had SUCH a great time - it was our first famliy trip with our daughter to Disney.

Had early reservations so had whole Main Street to herself...love the skipping to the castle! She was SO amazed to see the "REAL" everything!
GREAT pictures!!! This one of her skipping down Main St. made me cry!!! You should frame that one!!!

On another exciting note, we're getting a new dog today!! It's been a little over a year since my sweet 16 year old dog, Tomia, died. Here's a link to her story on my website: http://www.geocities.com/heaths32/tomia.html
I wanted to wait a while to see if I still wanted to have 2 dogs again, and I do!

So, I looked on Craigslist and found someone giving away a 7 year old miniature schnauzer named Pierre! I e-mailed her, filled out an application, and she picked us to be his "parents"! His current owner says he's housetrained, doesn't chew, is great with kids, and knows some cool tricks! She's giving him away because she's moving to Canada and apparently there are some loopholes to jump through when taking a dog over the border. :confused3 Anyway, we're really excited and I hope everything goes well! We have to drive 2.5 hours to get him, so I probably won't be on again today. I'll post pictures of our new doggie soon!

WOO HOO ON 500!!!

Make sure you share pictures of Pierre!!

WHAT'S GOING ON AROUND HERE????? I leave for a few days and BAM! you've got a new thread. Ya'll were probably trying to dodge me, but see that! I'm cleverer than you think! I found you sneaky girls anyway.

So, the bobbin kept bunching up on my MIL's machine last week and the peasant top is still in pieces. I am going to try to work on it today a bit. We'll see. I have GOT to get internet at home so I can keep up w/ ya'll better. That and a job that doesn't work me 24-7 so that I can actually get some sewing done.

Now, I have like 34 pages to review, I'd better get to it:surfweb:

I was just trying to catch up today, then I was going to email you if you hadn't posted yet! See, I was thinking about you!

Is there anyone else missing that needs to be notified of our move?

I like my Mary Jane crocs. They do not feel so obvious. For my "regular" style crocs I bought the khaki color so they don't stand out too much either. Well, less than most colors :rotfl: I have to say my feet and legs never ached the whole trip!
Could you post a picture of you wearing the Mary Janes?
I actually have sewed on my sewing machine! :lmao: I haven't made anything. I'm playing with the stitches and making sure I know where everything is. I am currently searching online to see if I can find a users manual for the machine. It was one mom bought at a yard sale many years ago. She wanted to buy me a new one yesterday and I told her not unless I start sewing. If I start sewing regularly, I'll take her up on that. In the mean time, I'm hoping I can find a user manual online. I was able to find one online for mom for her knitting machine that she got second hand.

The machine is a National Sewing Machine Co. model B400. Of course, the National Sewing Machine Co. looks like it went out of business years ago so it hasn't been easy to find anything about this particular machine.
Yeah VICKI!!!! You SEW Girl!!!
BTW, I have Mary Jane Crocs and they are my favorite shoes EVER!!

Or, you could post a picture of you wearing your Mary Janes! I want a pair, but I want to see how they look on adults. I love Lydia's on her!

That is gorgeous Angel! Gracie will look so pretty in that! I love that velvet top!

I just had to post this little funny -

So Elizabeth, DN (5) comes into Sunday School today wearing a nice skirt and a pretty sweater - looking nice. Well, the minute her mom dropped her off, she whipps off the pretty sweater, and guess what she was wearing underneath? Her Mickey Mouse Icon Tshirt with the princesses on it!!!! It totally cracked me up, and I think her mom would have had a cow if she saw how she looked without the sweater on! I guess you just never can tell what kids will do!!! :lmao: :lmao: I just love being with the 4-6 year olds Sunday school, you just never know what they will say or do!!!

Here she is at the table and then in the group shot (of course we took pictures today)

No, they really don't! They are so so so comfy!!! They aren't really plastic. You need to get yourself a pair and try them out!

I wanted to add though, that at first, they are not as comfortable, but once you have worn them for a few days, they conform to the shape of your foot, and that is what really makes them great!

I might take the girls for a train trip next week so we can go and have a looksie and see what the fuss is about :)

On the minnie one, is she wearing a pettiskirt underneath to make it poof like that? And that tink one is just too cute!

I cut out 2 of the skirt. One in white for the lining. Then I bought the roll of tulle, and gathered it tight. Sewed it down to the lining, 2 rows. and it puffed it out really nice. You can't tell, but she has bloomers on underneath. BTW, the Tink, Minnie and Pluto skirt are all the same pattern.

Sally, what pattern is that? I've always liked those skirts!

Maureen, I just checked out your pretrip report!!! I love seeing all the outfits together like that!! You guys will have so much fun! Make sure you post pictures when you get back!!

This is what I have been working on..I finished the Mickey Mouse shirt for my ds last night...did buttonholes for the first time, and wasn't as bad as I had initially dread. Only problem is I put the hole on the wrong side of the shirt...

IMG_3736p.jpg

This is the second thing i have been working on, and I need some help...I have no idea what I did wrong..I have looked through the pattern many times, and still can't figure out what I did wrong. It is the Easy Fit pants pattern from YMCT by Sewboutique for me and Dolly....yes, it was easy to sew, but it doesn't look right or fit right..and I haven't even sewed the casing for the elastic yet..and the shorts sit way, way below the waist..so with the casing..it is definitely not wearable. It is a pair of shorts for my ds.
I know this look funny and everyone is probably having a good laugh!
